"Peter, if you’re gonna be a hero, be a real hero… be strong enough to be gentle, be humble, be courageous".
- Larry Cullen
Tron, Security Monitor Program and protector of the Grid.
Bob, Format: Guardian and hero of Mainframe.
Within our very computers, phones, and every device, what if there was a whole world within it? Through systems, peoples, and cities to these places, the digital realm needs protectors against all kinds of viral or tyrannical threats. Luckily, they got the best the system has to offer. While not perfect paragons of heroism, they will still fight the good fight, regardless if they have been brainwashed or on the verge of deletion.
Through thick and thin, these digital heroes have persevered, not just in battle, but in games! These master gamer guardians are about to step into the ring. But which of them will nab a victory (royale)? Let’s find out on MEGA BLOGS!
BEFORE WE BEGIN

Things will be quite interesting in terms of media. For Tron, the movies will of course be used with certain literary adaptations, as well as Tron Uprising and the video games such as the old arcade games and Tron Evolution. Although Tron 2.0’s canonicity is questionable, it will still be looked at giving Tron a sort of softcomp. The comics will be included as well. Crossover media such as Kingdom Hearts and Mirrorverse will not be included for this blog.
TRON MEDIA LIST:
TRON (1982 film and relevant adaptations)
TRON ARCADE GAMES
TRON 2.0
TRON 2.0: KILLER APP
TRON: THE GHOST IN THE MACHINE
TRON EVOLUTION
TRON LEGACY (as well as relevant adaptations and whatnot)
TRON BETRAYAL
TRON UPRISING
TRON ARES
On Bob’s end things would be quite simple as there is not a lot of media to go through. All four seasons of ReBoot as well as the video game Countdown to Chaos will be used. The officially endorsed comics will be given a look as well. *sighhhh* Yes…. even Guardian Code… Guardian Code’s canonicity is also questionable, but it will be included too, putting Bob in a soft composite lens as well.
BOB MEDIA LIST:
REBOOT (1994)
REBOOT: THE TRIAS EFFECT SHORTS
REBOOT: COUNTDOWN TO CHAOS
REBOOT: THE RIDE
REBOOT: CODE OF HONOR COMICS
REBOOT: THE GUARDIAN CODE

BACKGROUND
NOTE: Their backgrounds will focus on strictly canon continuity without mention of stuff like 2.0, its sequel comics or Guardian Code and the webcomics. Uprising and Evolution will be included as they act as prequels to Legacy with even Bruce Boxleitner reprising his role as Tron in both.

Within the computer systems of the ENCOM corporation, the brilliant User Kevin Flynn created plenty of video games within the ENCOM mainframe, until one day the senior executive and fellow programmer, Ed Dillinger locked him out of the system and presented the games as his own, taking control of the mainframe with a former chess program called the Master Control Program. A while after being fired, Flynn and his friend and current ENCOM employee Alan Bradley, a programmer who had also been locked out by the MCP, would have a word with Dillinger. Alan would reveal that he has been working on a security program named Tron for the mainframe, with the Program being meant to monitor both internal and external threats, and thus being a danger to the Master Control, the tyrannical Program then locking out Bradley as a countermeasure. Dillinger would dismiss them and state that Tron would become a minion for the MCP, only to soon be blackmailed by the MCP, who intends to… hack into and control the Pentagon computers holy shit. Eventually, Alan and his girlfriend Lora would sneak Flynn into the laser lab to confront the MCP, although the pesky program in defense would digitize him into a whole new world, a world within the computer, being imprisoned and forced to play in the Game Grid, with the consequence of loss being deresolution. In this place he would meet Tron, who had proven to be a formidable warrior in the Games and making a name for himself. Soon, Flynn, alongside Tron and fellow program Ram would escape, and Tron would reunite with his lover Yori, a program written by Lora after freeing her from the MCP’s control. The two would find an I/O Tower, and with Dumont’s permission, Tron finally ‘meets’ his User, Alan Bradley, who would instruct the program to destroy the MCP alongside some helpful upgrades to his Identity Disc. Soon, he would confront Sark and the MCP, and with a window opened by Flynn, he would destroy the MCP, freeing the ENCOM mainframe.
This would not be his only venture, however as soon Flynn would create his own digital world: The Grid, meant for both Programs and Users, with the User recruiting the program to protect and maintain order within, bringing harmony to the Grid alongside Flynn and his digital copy: CLU. Everything would change, however, when the ISOs were born. Digital beings who were not written by Users, but spontaneously evolved within the Grid. BioDigital Jazz, man! Tron and Flynn would try to maintain peace as Programs would discriminate against them, with even CLU considering them an imperfection, but things begin to escalate when a riot breaks out when countless were killed and his close friend, Dyson was heavily wounded, a deep grudge against ISOs carved within him. To make matters worse, a being supposedly born from ISOs, the Abraxas Virus, would spread chaos, with CLU inspiring more and more hatred towards the ISOs. Although Abraxas would eventually be stopped by the system monitor Program Anon, things would fall apart when CLU began a coup, with even the incidents with Abraxas having been orchestrated by him. While Flynn would go into hiding, Tron held off his forces to help Kevin escape, until he was defeated by CLU himself, soon finding out Dyson was a co-conspirator of CLU before being imprisoned and even tortured by his former friend Dyson. CLU would eventually take over the Grid and begin a mass genocide, killing nearly every ISO and enforcing a government that controls through fear and power, soon sending an occupation to Argon city.
As Dyson tries to convert Tron to their side, the Program resists the pain inflicted upon him, getting the sympathy of the Sentry named Cyrus. As he was being transferred, Cyrus would have a change of heart and would help free Tron, seemingly faking his death as they hid within the Outlands. Tron would train him, but eventually Cyrus lost his mind, and the two would fall out which culminated in Tron imprisoning Cyrus with the help of the Program named Able. Soon, another young Program from Argon City named Beck would get his attention, soon recruiting the young Renegade and training him into becoming his successor and even the next Tron, as Tron is far too injured to lead the Uprising on his own. Through different missions, Beck would grow as a Renegade, battling against CLU’s occupation within Argon City, although there were some ups and downs. Tron would mentor the young Beck throughout, teaching him plenty and even growing to be close friends. Soon however, Dyson would appear in the city, with the Program then attempting revenge upon his former friend, but Tron would not let anger get to his head and spared his former friend. The past would bite him again when Cyrus returns after Beck unwittingly frees him, taking Tron’s appearance and soon defaming the Renegade and causing the death of Able, even when they were able to stop him. Making matters even worse, Tron’s wounds begin to worsen, soon being offered by a repurposed former member of the Uprising healing in exchange for joining CLU. Tron would then turn himself in and let them heal him, just as Beck broke in to free him before he was repurposed, and finally the mighty Tron is healed. After the ship they were on crashes, soon all of Beck’s friends fully turn on CLU, now joining the revolution alongside Beck and Tron just as CLU himself approached Argon city.
While the circumstances are unknown, eventually, Tron would be captured by CLU and repurposed into the silent yet deadly Rinzler, becoming CLU’s top lackey who often participates in the games. Beck’s status is unknown, although the Uprising lives on. Soon, another User would arrive on the Grid. The son of Kevin Flynn: Sam Flynn, who arrived in search of his father. Rinzler would encounter him in the games and capture him, bringing him to CLU. After Flynn escapes with the ISO Quorra, Rinzler would encounter them again later as they attempted to leave the Grid to prevent CLU’s invasion of the real world. As Rinzler and CLU chased down Sam, Kevin and Quorra, Rinzler would be reminded of his past, fighting against his repurposing and regaining himself, sabotaging and slowing down CLU and falling into the Sea of Simulation, returning to his blue appearance (although he was white in Uprising-). This would buy time for the trio to reach the portal to the real world, with Sam and Quorra escaping with Kevin’s Disc as Kevin reintegrates with CLU, at seemingly at the cost of his own life. He may be gone for now, but as long as Tron lives, both Users and Programs can rest easy knowing they are safe within the world that resides in the computer.

BOB
![]() |
- Also known as: Guardian 542, Interface, Glitch-Bob, Chip
- Age: Unknown (potentially as old as the average adult)
- Race: Guardian Sprite
- Guardian of Mainframe
- Likes: Glitch, His car, Dot and Enzo Matrix, Mouse, Hexadecimal
- Dislikes: Megabyte, Web Creatures, the BSnP, threats to Mainframe
- Voiced by like two different people
- Not Meg’s pookie bear but he’s still awesome
- He’s blue, if he was green he would die
Mainframe: a city within the computer divided into six sectors inhabited by the digital beings known as Sprites and Binomes, a city often threatened by viruses and games inputted by the computer’s User, with the consequence being Nullification. Assigned to the city of Mainframe is the Guardian Program named Bob. While not a whole lot is known about his past prior to his arrival in Mainframe, we do know he was once a Guardian cadet who believed in the reformatting of viruses. One day the Virus Killabyte would upgrade and escape captivity, killing his partner in the process, although his partner’s Keytool would pass onto him, soon making it his mission to track down and stop the Virus, who had become a Super Virus that split into two beings, Megabyte and Hexadecimal, and would become the biggest thorns on Bob’s side. As a resident of Mainframe, he quickly made a name for himself as he saved the people time and time again with his mastery in the games. Early into his ventures, he would often battle with the User within the massive Game Cubes that would enter the city, sometimes with the assistance of his newfound friends. Even when Mainframe is seemingly done for, Bob, the young Enzo Matrix, and his born leader big sis Dot Matrix would find a way to save the day against the toughest adversities. These routine Saturday Morning shenanigans would however end when one day Mike the TV would accidentally break a portal into the Web, the Cyber Space that inhabits every computer. This incident would lead to a Web Creature possessing Hexadecimal and later Megabyte, soon forcing the two to merge into their original form: Gigabyte, which proceeded to rampage across Mainframe. After the people of Mainframe manage to split them apart, the Guardians; Bob’s superiors; would try to completely annihilate Mainframe after the hacker program Mouse reports how big of a threat the creature is. Bob manages to keep the explosion away from the city, but this would leave Mainframe vulnerable as the creature tears open a massive portal to the Web with the Tear formed by the bomb.
With no choice left, Bob and the people of Mainframe form an unlikely alliance with the viruses in an all out battle against the creatures as they attempted to close the portal, but Megabyte, ever the crafty schemer, betrays Bob, trapping him in a pod and banishing him into the Web before closing the portal, leaving Mainframe to be taken over by the ruthless virus. All hope was not lost however, as the Guardian did leave the city in the hands of the new Guardian, their newest recruit: Enzo Matrix, who proved to be a formidable force against the tyrannical Megabyte and his army as well as a scrappy player of the games. Despite his best efforts, however, eventually Enzo lost a game. He and the Game Sprite AndrAIa would be lost in the Net as Enzo made it so he survives Nullification, going through different games to find a way home as a renegade, even encountering a Sprite who he briefly mistook for Bob. The older Enzo would also discover a shocking revelation: the Guardian Collective has been almost completely infected and controlled by a Super Virus named Daemon, with the last Guardian still in control named Turbo telling him that he and Bob are the Net’s last hope.
Soon enough, the trio aboard a ship travelling through the web would encounter a group of Web Riders and briefly battling them, only for the fight to stop at the behest of a familiar face. Enzo had found Bob, who had been surviving on the Web ever since he was lost and taking the form of Interface. After their reunion, they’d find Mainframe, but not before Bob would become one with his Keytool: Glitch, becoming Glitch-Bob, using the tear to form a portal to get the team home to what was once Mainframe, now ravaged by a conflict between Megabyte and Hexadecimal and ruled over by the former. They’d reunite with Dot and the others, who had been in hiding ever since Megabyte took over. Now back home, Bob and the others would battle the threat of Megabyte once more and finally defeat him and seemingly banishing him from Mainframe, even helping heal Hexadecimal. However, their victory was short lived when Mainframe experienced a system crash, but Bob had one last gamble, stating the User could restore Mainframe after the crash, and he was right, the User restores Mainframe, and everyone who lived in the city, even restoring those who have been infected by Megabyte, and somehow bringing back a younger Enzo separate from the older Enzo, freeing the system seemingly once and for all.
The Guardian and the Mainframers still had one more foe, however: the Super Virus Daemon, who has been gradually infecting the entire Net and needs Bob to infect it entirely. It would also be revealed Bob’s fusion with Glitch is imperfect as Glitch was damaged by Megabyte in the past, essentially meaning Bob slowly counts down to his own deletion every time he uses his powers. The battle is hard fought, and even when everyone is infected and the entire Net seemingly counting down to total deletion, it is with Hexadecimal’s sacrifice due to the Guardian’s compassion that further fostered her love for Bob that everyone is saved, spreading the cure at the cost of her life. The day is saved with even Dot proposing to Bob, but not before another problem arises, ANOTHER BOB! A Bob from the very moment Megabyte betrays them, complicating Dot’s wedding plans and even forcing Bob to split with Glitch as Dot preferred the original Bob due to Glitch Bob reminding her of the pain they have been through. Eventually though, it is revealed the other Bob is actually a disguised Megabyte, who had become a Trojan Horse Virus, eventually taking control of the Principal Office and in extension all of Mainframe, declaring revenge upon the people. While this story has not been resolved, we can rest easy knowing Bob will mend and defend no matter what.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL
TRON
Tron is a security monitor program, meant to monitor both internal and external threats in any system he is assigned to, making him a force to be reckoned with. Although he does not show too much hand to hand skills during his time in the ENCOM Mainframe, later outings show that he is very much acrobatic and second to none in close quarters. Weapons are his forte as well, most notably his skill in wielding his Identity Disc, capable of using it as a ranged throwing weapon as well as a short range chakram, even wielding two discs at times. He has also wielded a Light Staff, showing just as much mastery over it. Tron easily outskills Beck despite his injuries, and would later train him, with Beck soon being skilled enough to fight the likes of General Tesler and keep up with an enhanced Pavel. Beck is even skilled enough to take on foes without the need of his Disc after Tron’s training.
Tron, even while injured, can even match and defeat the likes of other highly skilled Programs like Dyson and Cyrus, and most impressively often take down groups of Black Guards; who have shown to be superior to the average Program; with relative ease. He is a master in not just combat but as well as the Games, easily defeating multiple people in Disc Wars, likely skilled at Hyperball, and more Grid Games and even showing great mastery in vehicles, driving and piloting Tanks, Recognizers, Light Jets, and most notably the Light Cycle. He is also skilled and strong enough to be CLU’s top lackey once he was repurposed, easily taking down Sam Flynn and Quorra. As of Tron Legacy, he is around a thousand years old, taking account of how time works within the Grid of course. Tron 2.0: Killer App also shows he is capable of hacking and he generally has a great topographic understanding of the system he inhabits. He is also left-handed. Neat!
BOB
![]() |
Despite initially being a cadet level Guardian who studied at the Academy, Bob has still demonstrated great skill in combat and other different situations. As a Guardian, his function is to mend tears and defend against viruses. Although he has not shown a lot of hand to hand specialties (probably due to technical limitations for the animation software), he is quite scrappy in combat, utilising Glitch in various ways, even in non-combat. He also quickly got the hang of Glitch’s upgrades after their split, fighting on even footing with an upgraded Megabyte. He is also capable of riding different vehicles, like his sweet yet old car, Zip Boards, and various other vehicles in the Games. In games, he is able to quickly adapt to its features and gimmicks, leading his allies to win every game he’s competed in, only “losing” when he deliberately tries to lose to nullify a huge threat until plans quickly change and he immediately wins the game. Everyone in Mainframe depends on him, to the point he led a battle, and even ran a conference teaching the people how to handle games in case he is not present. He even wrote “Games: A Survivor’s Guide” to help the Mainframers. Despite his leadership qualities though, he is more of an improvisational combatant, using his surroundings and any tool at his disposal.
These games vary each time, from soldier games, spaceship games, and even the… *shudders* Fun House… Oh and Mad Max. Even after getting lost in the Net, he still survives and lives among others lost within it, wrangling web creatures alongside the other Web Riders. It is likely he was stuck there for what amounted to years from his perspective. He is also quite a smooth talker, notably convincing Hexadecimal to destroy the Medusa Bug and even bringing Hex onto their side through his compassion for viruses, as well as being a good enough negotiator to buy time against a highly powerful Code Master. He has also used his Academy knowledge as shown when he was discussing how to combat Lens with Phong.
EQUIPMENT AND VEHICLES
TRON
Mask/Helmet
![]() |
Every Program on the Grid wears these, capable of protracting and retracting. While they don’t protect against deresolution or a hard enough impact, they can still protect from smaller dangers like any helmet would. After his supposed death during CLU’s takeover, he often wore a helmet in public or in front of unfamiliar Programs to hide his identity. The mask and suit in general has voice modulation. It is also difficult for other Programs to remove by force.
Identity Disc
The fundamental piece of equipment for any Program, containing all that they are and is placed on their backs. It acts as the primary weapon for any Program as well as containing any information they witness or hear. Discs contain the Program’s ID, functions, directives and priority rankings and access privileges. Losing the Disc for a long period of time could result in the Program losing their memories, knowledge and personalities, glitching and disorienting until they become Stray Programs.
Its contents can even be viewed and edited through a holographic projection from the Disc. When used as a weapon, Discs have a sharp edge capable of easily derezzing (death in Tron) Programs. They can be thrown, used as short range weapons, and in some cases it can be used as a small shield.
They can also ricochet off of surfaces and could even have their trajectories be manipulated to an extent as well as home in on their targets. In the Legacy era, Tron has been shown to be able to wield two of them, most notably when he defended Flynn against CLU’s forces and as Rinzler. In the original arcade game, interestingly, Tron is portrayed as shooting out many Discs in a rapid fire manner, and in Discs of Tron he can throw three. They can even provide some healing to its owner after an outside force does some helpful editing to its data. Tron has a special disc atop his that can be transferred to other Programs to take his attire and appearance.
Baton
Another common tool among Programs, used to generate tools, weapons, and vehicles, all of which will be discussed. As Rinzler, he had two batons on hand.
Staff
Like it says on the tin, resembling a bo staff. It can be manifested from batons.
Light Sword
Another weapon manifested from batons, although it is more like a short sword. While not something Tron uses on screen, it is something he technically has access to and is likely skilled with.
Light Grenade
Explosives that can be stuck to objects presumably magnetically, or even thrown like normal grenades. They can be detonated after a countdown and are quite powerful even in small amounts.
Light Taser
A device similar in appearance to Light Grenades, used to zap foes into unconsciousness, mainly to capture them. Tron used this device under the
guise of a Program working under CLU to capture Beck and bring him to his hidden base.
Smoke Bomb
Another device similar in appearance to Light Grenades, this of course creates a smoke screen upon detonation. While only used by Beck on screen, it is not far-fetched to assume Tron would have at least one on hand.
Cesta
A tool used in the Ring Game/Hyperball, where Programs stand on platforms made of energy rings. Players must use the ball to derezz the opponent’s rings to cause them to fall. Tron has not been shown to play this game on screen, but it is likely he has played it under the MCP’s custody and he can play it in Tron: Evolution - Battle Grids.
Wingchute
Deployable appendages on a Program’s back primarily used to glide and/or act as a parachute to make a proper descent from high falls. While this piece of equipment is usually something used by Black Guards, Tron’s apprentices Beck and Cyrus have used wingchutes a few times, and it is something Tron can use in the game Tron Run/r.
Lance
![]() |
Light Cycle jousting is a game shown in Tron Uprising. While this game has been shown only once, it is possible Tron or Rinzler has participated in it at least once in all his years within the Grid.
Light Cycle
One of the most iconic aspects of Tron as a franchise, the Light Cycle. These things are incredibly fast, capable of even briefly outpacing large explosions. Cycles can most famously leave hard light trails called Light Ribbons, capable of derezzing other vehicles and Programs upon hard impact after the driver forces their foes to bump into it usually in a game of snake. These trails can be turned on or off. These Cycles are also the most common uses for batons. There have been multiple Light Cycle variants, but we’ll give Tron the latest that he has access to, the type used in Flynn’s Grid.
Interestingly, in Tron: The Ghost in the Machine, Cycles are armed with rapid fire guns.
Light Tank
![]() |
Large combat vehicles with heavy armor and armaments and even capable of all-terrain travel. They are armed with large turrets that fire Tank Arrows, bursts of energy capable of derezzing Light Cycles and even other Tanks. While Tron has not used a Light Tank on screen in any TV or movie media, he has piloted a tank in the original arcade game as well as the GameBoy Advance game Tron 2.0: Killer App. This cannot be formed from batons, however.
Tank ammunition has also been described as light in Evolution, fired at “ROF of eighty per nanocycle”.
In Tron: Evolution - Battle Grids, Tanks have different types of shots:
- Ricochet
- Missiles
- Mortar
- Mines
All self explanatory.
There are also different tank types in the same game, prioritizing different stats:
- Standard
- Light
- Agile
- Durable
- Combat
- Bosh (BOSHO!!!)
- Elite Guard
Recognizer
Another rather iconic Tron vehicle. Recognizers are pretty large aerial vehicles that can be operated by a single pilot. They can fly at varying speeds and their pylons can initiate a “stomp” maneuver that captures Programs. In Tron 2.0 Killer App, and Evolution - Battle Grids, Tron would pilot a Recognizer in certain sections and in this game they are armed with similar cannons to Light Tanks, and as Rinzler he has used one in the Legacy novel. They seem to function similarly in Flynn’s Grid, even acting as bombers in Tron: Evolution.
In the comic Tron: The Ghost in the Machine, a Recognizer would fire a huge beam, not unlike the huge blast a Recognizer fires that destroyed Arjia city in Evolution. A later iteration of the Recognizer would also be armed with rapid fire guns in Tron: Ares, although it is unlikely older versions are armed with such.
It cannot be formed by Batons like look at the size of that thing lol.
Light Jet
![]() |
A small aircraft capable of high speed flight and just like a Light Cycle, create Light Ribbons. It is also armed with rapid fire guns that shoot out Light Pellets. Tron most notably used a Light Jet as Rinzler, nearly derezzing the Flynns and Quorra while they attempted to escape in a larger Light Jet. It can be formed from batons.
Snowmobile
![]() |
A heavily modified Light Cycle type, meant for rough terrain. Tron used this to chase down Beck in the Outlands. It can create Light Ribbons just like a normal Light Cycle.
Speed Boat
An aquatic vehicle meant to navigate oceanic areas. It can even submerge and act as a submarine. It can create Light Ribbons and is also armed with rapid fire guns that shoot out Light Pellets. It likely cannot be formed by batons.
Byte Companion
A little drone companion introduced in Tron Run/r. It aids the assigned Program depending on the companion’s function.
Byte Companion variants are:
- Eradicator. Its function is to “erase nearby threats.”
- Aggregator (pictured above). Its function is to “double score values”
- Bit Compiler. Its function is to “collect nearby bits”
- Firewall. Its function is to “enable shield protection”
- Power Drift. Its function is “drift long enough and gain an extra boost when you exit”
- Quantum X. Its function is to “gain an additional time bonus for each Disruptor Hoop collected”
Riot Gear
During a significant incident at an ISO District, Tron, Dyson, and a small team of Programs equipped some gear to help calm down a riot that would break out. He wore some hard light armor and head gear on his upper body and had a hard light shield.
Similar armor was used in non-lethal versions of Disc Wars as well as lethal ones. This gear is a pretty good temporary protection, defending the wearer from Discs, although it would derezz after a single blow. This gear can also disappear and reappear on the Program’s body.
Binoculars
Capable of seeing far away things. It is even capable of scanning and zooming in from great range.
Energy Cord
Tron’s baton can also project a hard light line/cord.
Improvised Weaponry
Tron is no stranger to using his surroundings to his advantage, such as picking up a metal pipe to jam Beck’s bike wheel to stop his pursuit, and when he placed Cyrus’ own bomb onto his chest while seemingly pinned down. His apprentice Beck has also tried wielding a metal pipe against Tesler.
Recharge Stations
In Tron 2.0: Killer App, Tron can stumble upon Recharge Stations, which of course recharges him back to full health.
Tron 2.0 Killer App Weapon Power Ups and Items
Temporary boosts and weapons Tron can gain.
- EM Grenade - Throwable explosives with a decent AOE.
- Advanced Jump - Allows Tron to double-jump for a limited time.
- Rapid Fire - Rapid fire energy blasts from his Disc with limited shots.
- Spread Attack - Gives Tron three discs for a short amount of time.
- Stun Disc - Stuns foes temporarily.
- Back-up Unit - Essentially acts as extra lives. Maximum is nine, and interestingly, the game treats it as real, meaning Tron can come back to life nine times.
Vehicle Power-Ups and Upgrades
Of course, 2.0: Killer App couldn’t resist and gave Tron’s vehicles power-ups and upgrades, namely his Light Cycle, Tank, and Recognizer. Since the list of abilities is very extensive and would take up many pages, please refer to this manual for more information; but for some stand outs worth pointing out, see the following images:
Handcuffs
![]() |
Tron cuffed Beck to some railing so he would not interrupt his lil quest for revenge. They can be timed, unlocking after the countdown ends.
Bob
Icon
Bob and nearly every inhabitant of Mainframe has an Icon, which contains a Sprite/Binome’s Personal Identification. Guardians can use their Icons to upgrade the Icons of other Sprites into that of Guardians as a way to recruit them. It can also be changed into “Game Sprite Mode”, convincing the Game you are part of it to help survive Nullification, although this would trap you in the Games. Its most notable feature is allowing Bob and the others to Reboot, with a double tap on the Icon and the command: “Reboot!” More on Rebooting in abilities.
Icons can also be used to change a Sprite’s clothing.
Interestingly, the pure Guardian Code contained within Enzo’s Icon can be used to fully purify even Super Virus infections.
Zip Board
Cowabunga! A small hoverboard commonly used throughout the entire Net. It is capable of flying at surprisingly high speeds and heights, although it cannot get too high as the device would burn out as a result. It can also jet boost in Countdown to Chaos. Other than his car, this is Bob’s main method of transportation, both in mundane days and in combat.
Gun
“Easy as Pi squared!”
In ReBoot: Countdown to Chaos, Bob wields a pistol that shoots things in tandem with Glitch (Where was this shit in the show-). Throughout the game’s levels, Bob’s pistol can get some upgrades/power ups:
- Pistol Triangle: Makes his shots faster.
- Blaster Triangle: Bob’s pistol can shoot out electrical charge projectiles, growing more powerful as he collects more triangles.
- Rocket Triangle: Gives him rocket ammunition, and the more of these triangles he collects, the more he can fire. The gun also becomes larger.
V262 Turbo Drophead Car
![]() |
A recurring mini-plot in ReBoot is Bob often trying to repair his initially red hover car, as its engine always gave out. While not as reliable as the Zip Board for general transport, it is still a fast transport when it isn’t dying. Later on, during the war against Daemon, Bob would have his car upgraded with bigger thrusters and weapons and a different paint job, although the engine still gives out.
The toy of the car is capable of launching Delete Discs.
The V3 Bike
Bob briefly traded his car for this sweet red bike. It got destroyed in the episode it was introduced. RIP. Kinda looks like Kaneda’s.
Hidden File Commands
After briefly entering the portal to the Super Computer to stop Megabyte from entering it and returning to close the Tear, Bob brought some Hidden File Commands from the Super Computer Armory in the form of floating orbs.
On activation, they hide the users of said commands, covering himself, Dot, and the Tear. Bob does not tell the Virus what command he used so Megabyte was convinced they used a Return Command. It is unknown if he kept them.
Viral Erase Command
In an attempt to stop the Medusa Bug, Phong provided Bob with a Viral Erase Command, which is equipped to erase low grade viruses. Bob used an add-on to increase its power to erase the Bug, but it was unsuccessful. Upon detonation it creates a large explosive wave that likely only erases viral threats, although judging from Bob having to fly away, it is likely its explosion would still hurt.
Medusa Bug Infected Teddy Bear (inapplicable)
Woe, petrification be upon ye! When the entirety of Mainframe was affected by the petrifying Medusa Bug, Bob was immune, so he decided to confront Hexidecimal, attempting to infect the Virus with the Bug by throwing an affected Teddy Bear. It didn’t work although things worked out eventually. The Medusa Bug is powerful enough to infect an entire city and even the likes of Megabyte and likely Hexadecimal.
Is this something he’d bring on the regular? No, and it is probably no longer affected by the Bug. Is it in character? Probably not for seasons 3-4 Bob. Is it kinda funny? Yes.
Sword
Bob stole one of the swords of the pirates of the Saucy Mare. These swords can put its target into a File Lock upon impact, trapping them in a square translucent field and immobilizing them as if they are encased in ice.
Diving Ship
When Megabyte’s lackeys after shrinking mistakenly infiltrate Enzo’s brain instead of Bob’s, the Guardian shrunk himself too while bringing this little ship that can fly at high speeds and launch some explosives. He wore some protective gear with it too.
Construction ship thing
Bob once tried to attack Lens with a construction ship with a giant claw. It didn’t work. Other construction vehicles are capable of restraining the likes of Megabyte.

Groovy!
Black Armor and Gear
To help buy time against Gigabyte, Bob wore some protective gear in tandem with Glitch to fight Gigabyte directly to buy time for their plan. He did not match the Super Virus in strength, but the armor still helped soften a significant blow against him.
Black Beetle Turbo Pincer Force!
![]() |
Go go, Mainframe Rangers! To combat the threat of “Nullzilla” (thanks Enzo), Phong, the Sprite who runs the Principal Office provides Bob and the gang with tokusatsu suits, Bob getting the Black Ranger suit with a Beetle theme. By saying “Black Beetle Turbo Pincer Force” with the helmet on, Bob summons and pilots a large beetle-esque vehicle capable of both land travel and air travel. While its individual combative capabilities are unknown, his and the others’ vehicles can combine to form…
A Giant Robot! (Inapplicable)
Form Voltro-! Oh shit wrong show. All five vehicles combine to form this unnamed giant robot to match Nullzilla. Other than its great strength, it is also armed with the Disrupto-Matic, a giant axe that spins.
Bob cannot use or form this machine alone, however, so this huge hunk of metal is non-standard, only included for the sake of completion.
Large Cannon
In ReBoot: The Ride, Bob wielded a large energy cannon capable of blasting some powerful green energy blasts. Dot also used this in the battle against the Web Creatures.
Glitch
![]() |
Bob’s Key Tool and most reliable companion. Key Tools are small wrist devices wielded by Guardians. They are actually sentient, with their main ability being to transform into different tools to accomplish a Guardian’s tasks. They choose their wielders, with Glitch having chosen Bob after the death of his partner.
The Key Tool and the Guardian exchange codes, and it only responds to its assigned Guardian, although it can follow the commands of others with permission. This bond is strong enough that Bob can summon Glitch from far away outside hearing range. Their batteries have to recharge every now and then, however and of course lose functionality upon losing all power. It is also capable of detailed scans, both to identify objects and the goals of games. Bob also has used Glitch for communication quite a few times. With a command: “Glitch…” with the following word, the device transforms into different tools and weapons, such as…
Glitch commands and abilities
In no particular order:
- “Glitch, Mend!” Glitch then transforms into a device that shoots energy beams that mend Tears, one of the main functions of a Guardian.
- “Glitch, Key!” Glitch’s gear-like component launches out, becoming a device that can stabilize Tears into portals.
- “Glitch, Safety Line!” Glitch launches grappling wires, even able to launch another for a zip line. In Countdown to Chaos, Bob also uses the command: “Glitch, Grapple!”
- “Glitch, Disengage!” Deactivates whatever Glitch is doing. Bob has also used “Glitch, stop!” on one occasion.
- “Glitch, X-Ray!” Glitch creates a large scope with an X-Ray vision. It is capable of zooming in the view.
- “Glitch, Rotor!” Glitch forms a small rotor to help Bob with descent or slow flight.
- “Glitch, Power Hammer!” Glitch forms a large hammer.
- “Glitch, Cutters!” Glitch forms a sharp round sawblade that either protrudes from an arm or fires and boomerangs, sharp enough to cut through metals and solid rock- wait a minute this feels familiar. This command is one he uses pretty often.
- “Glitch, Auto-stow!” Glitch forms a small arm and claw to safely grab objects without Bob having to make contact with it.
- “Glitch, Hammer!” When Enzo briefly held Glitch in season 1 episode 3, he used this command and the following two commands to try out the device, immediately followed up with…
- “Flashlight!” Glitch turns into a flashlight. And thirdly…
- “Uuuhhh… Jackhammer!” Glitch turns into a jackhammer.
- “Glitch, pin!” Glitch forms a small arm with a needle-like end.
- “Glitch, BFG!” Glitch transforms into a translucent electric guitar… Or become a bunch of large rapid fire guns as shown in Countdown to Chaos holy shit.
- “Glitch, BSnP!” A jab at the Broadcast Standards and Practices, Glitch puts Bob in a barrier that…. Breaks and reconstructs a window because BSnP would not allow them to have Bob shatter glass for some reason.
- “Glitch, VidWindows! Large Icons!” To destroy an enemy skeleton, Glitch opens a large VidWindow within it to destroy it from within.
- “Glitch, Viewer-scope!” Glitch becomes a pair of binoculars that can x ray scan whoever he looks at it with, mainly used to find out whatever Frisket ate that made him sick.
- “Glitch, Energy Driver!” Glitch forms a large golf club. While this occurred in Enzo’s dream, it is not far fetched to assume he can do this.
- “Glitch, Electro-pulse!” Glitch fires an energy blast powerful enough to repel Bob upwards like a rocket jump.
- “Glitch, Energy Shield!” Glitch fires a barrier to form around whoever Bob wants to protect. It can also form a hard light construct that acts as a small barrier on Bob’s left arm where Glitch is.
- “Glitch, anything!” When panicked, Bob yells this out making Glitch form whatever such as a freaking lamp post or a large spring.
- “Glitch, Elevator!” Presumably Glitch makes an elevator, we don’t know for sure as Glitch ran out of battery at this point.
- “Glitch, Doubleheader!” Glitch creates round energy shields around Bob and Dot that drag them to safety.
- While its command is not stated, Glitch launched a yellow field that put Megabyte in a File Lock in the episode “Infected”.
- “Glitch, Arm!” Glitch’s gear-like component launches onto a device to control it remotely.
- “Glitch, Multi-Tool!” Glitch, well, transforms into multiple tools.
- “Glitch, Para-glide!” Glitch forms a pair of wing gliders.
- “Glitch, Stats!” Glitch begins to scan the stats of a game.
- “Glitch, Game info!” Glitch provides the necessary information of a game.
- “Glitch, Viewscope!” Glitch becomes a telescope.
- “Glitch, Med-Gun!” Glitch turns into a handgun that fires a beam that was able to heal Frisket to an extent.
- “Glitch, Car!” Glitch launches off of Bob’s arm and covers his car’s stick to bring it to him directly.
- “Glitch, Wide-field Energy Beam!” Glitch launches a powerful energy projectile strong enough to knock back Megabyte.
- “Glitch, away!” Glitch is sent away flying for safety.
- “Glitch, Solid State (Invincible) Mode!” It is unclear what the fuck this even did (at least on my end i might be dumb), but it could be likely a defensive command.
- “Glitch, Shield!” Glitch turns into a decently sized gear-shaped shield.
- “Glitch, Splitter!” Glitch launches gear-like devices that help split fused beings, although it often requires some help such as when Gigabyte was being overloaded with energy.
- “Glitch, Tracer!” Glitch launches and places a tracking device on a target.
- “Glitch, Probe!” Glitch forms a scanning scope that can scan objects for anything dangerous, mainly small objects.
- “Glitch, Particle Beam!” Glitch fires well, a Particle Beam.
- “Glitch, Download!” A risky move, Glitch and Bob fuse into the aptly named Glitch-Bob. More on that later.
- “Glitch, Power Ram!” A command used post-upgrade. Glitch fires a large energy blast.
- “Glitch, Portal!” Glitch stabilizes a Tear with an energy beam, turning it into a portal. In the TV exclusive “Trias Effect” shorts, Glitch with this command can also just make a stable portal to the Super Computer to get the Effect without issue. That’s interesting.
- “Glitch, Trias Effect!” In the Trias Effect shorts, the titular Effect can easily cleanse entire cities of the Medusa Bug.
In Countdown to Chaos, Glitch also has:
- Box Gun - File lock boxes that freeze foes.
- Mortar - Mortar explosives.
- Vampire - A boomerang-like weapon that drains health from foes.
- Flamethrower - Self-explanatory.
- Anti-Virus - Scrambles Megabyte’s weapons. It likely only works on machines infected by Viruses.
It is important to note there has been a case or two, like with the File Lock beam where Glitch can activate a tool without a specific command. There was also a weird instance where uh, Glitch can act as a portal for a ship somehow???
Other Keytools like Turbo’s Copland can activate without commands.
Glitch Post-Upgrade
![]() |
As was mentioned earlier, when Glitch and Bob split off back into their old selves with the help of all the other Keytools, Glitch returns with enhancements, mainly greater energy manipulations and constructs, allowing Bob to fight an enhanced Megabyte and even exposing his disguise, which even the likes of Phong and the others was not able to realize normally.
Glitch after this upgrade was able to create large energy shields, blunt energy blades, and even telekinesis as well as energy grapples and basic blaster bolts, all without commands. Glitch has essentially become a Green Lantern ring.
Glitch Battle Armor
“Leon vs Frank ice mech suit clip but its Bob wearing his Iron Man ahh shit” -Meg
In the officially endorsed comic ReBoot Code of Honor, Glitch can form a battle armor covered from head to toe with weapons and protection. Jesus, Bob where was this in the show /j. He intended to use this to battle and delete Megabyte for good, but Turbo had to call him back for other plans.
This suit is armed with:
- Battle Armor
- X-90 Tactical Helmet
- Laser Guided Artillery
Mainframe Armory
![]() |
Bob has entered the Armory a few times, and it is here where some of his aforementioned and later to be mentioned equipment is located.
It also has huge missiles apparently, and of course has the weapons of Mainframe’s armed forces, which include their own ABC’s, some firearms and more.
Super Computer Armory
The Guardians operate from the Super Computer, where Bob studied at the Academy, and this base of operations of course includes an armory. When Bob entered the Portal to prevent Megabyte from entering it, he returned with the Hidden File Commands which he got from the armory. He also got the Trias Effect from here. While he never grabbed any actual weapons, it is something he technically has access to with how he could easily come here through portals.
Other than Commands and the Trias Effect, the Armory likely contains other Guardian firearms and blasters, possibly more.
Would Bob randomly drop into the Armories to get random shit in the middle of a fight to the death? Maybe? If the situation calls for it I guess.
Countdown to Chaos items
Bob can stumble upon these useful items in the PS1 game Countdown to Chaos.
- Guardian Icon - Essentially extra lives
- Health Diamond - Restores Bob’s health fully.
- Glitch Diamond - Restores weapon and Glitch energy fully.
- Health Icon - Restores Bob’s health by 10%.
- Glitch Battery Icon - Restores weapon and Glitch energy by 10%.
- Guardian Shield - Temporary invulnerability.
- Megabyte Key - Items that give you access to VidWindows to finish levels.
Revert Command
![]() |
In Countdown to Chaos, there is a bad ending where Enzo dies as one of many casualties. As a final hope, Phong gives Bob a Revert Command to return to the past and get a good ending. The device upon activation creates a swirl of energy that Bob must jump into to travel through time. What the fuck.
It is unknown how far back in time he can go, but he can go far back enough to redo the game’s events.
Exo-skeleton Suit (Debatable?)
![]() |
Probably an Alien reference. A large exosuit meant for combat most notably wielded by Dot, Enzo, and AndrAIa. The suit responds to the wearers’ thoughts in order to move.
But would Bob get this or nah? The toy of the suit can fit any “good guy” ReBoot figure, which does include Bob, the main hero of the story, although he has not used it on screen, but at the same time he has been to the Mainframe Armory where weapons including this one are usually located. He prooobably should not get it, but it is interesting to note I’d say.
Abilities
Tron
Program Physiology
Programs are electronic beings who live within the computer worlds, created by the Users, usually even taking the appearance of their creators. Tron is a Security Program created by a User, taking the appearance of Alan Bradley. Programs live on pure energy with circuitry all over their suits and clothing, which are most notably glowing. Programs in Flynn’s Grid onward are also ageless unlike humans, as they are obviously inorganic. A Program’s abilities are determined by their protocols, directives, data, energy, clearance, purpose and functions, with Tron of course being a security Program.
Tron has inhuman strength and skill, as shown with his mastery over games and even intimidates augmented Programs like Tesler. Programs in general are also surprisingly athletic and acrobatic. As per Tron’s function, he seems to have a technological know-how on just about every vehicle. He is also seemingly able to rid Yori of the MCP’s brainwashing. In RUN/r, Programs can run up and along walls and ceilings as if they were the floor, as well as run and jump between walls in relation to what’s currently the floor for them. Dyson also modified Tron’s code so that the latter can survive indefinitely feeding on his own energy.
Enhanced Senses
Other than his rather superhuman reflexes, Tron can also track footprints by touching the ground. Fellow Program Dyson can do the same.
Rinzler is also capable of feeling Flynn’s presence.
Corrosive Energy
![]() |
When Rinzler touched a catwalk, he sent out “corrosive” energy that dimmed lights and disrupted tech.
Limited Matter Manipulation/Clothing changing
Programs are capable of changing the colors and appearance of their attires. They can do the same to their hair. This is especially useful for disguising.
Adaptive Structure
![]() |
In Tron 2.0: Killer App, Tron states he was made with an adaptive structure, making him match any new threats even when he is currently considered “obsolete.”
Tron Evolution even describes him and fellow Security Monitor Anon having adaptive capabilities.
Deflector/Minor Electricity Manipulation
![]() |
In Discs of Tron, Tron can temporarily envelop himself in an electric charge that deflects incoming Discs. There is a limited amount of times he can do this, however, at around seven.
Jump Impact
![]() |
In Tron 2.0: Killer App, Tron can perform a Jump Impact, where he jumps and slams down his Disc creating a shockwave capable of destroying large structures.
Upgrade Chips
![]() |
In Tron 2.0: Killer App, Tron can find upgrade chips to help with his performance. He can only equip up to four at a time, however. These chips are:
- Weapon function interface - Enhances Tron’s Disc
- Improved weapon booster interface - Further enhances the Disc.
- Maximum weapon booster interface - Greatly enhances the Disc.
- Jumping module - Allows Tron to double jump.
- Improved ICP infantry module - Increases weapon power and armor.
- Combat mastery protocols - An illegal upgrade that helps its user inflict maximum damage.
- Advanced ICP infantry module - Even more stats enhancement as well as jump enhancement.
- Target mastery - Increases the number of enemies Tron can target.
- Energy booster - Enhances a Program’s energy efficiency.
- Improved energy booster - Further energy enhancements and defense boosts.
- Advanced energy booster - The ultimate energy efficiency and more defense boosts.
- Streamlined Coding - Tightens up the Program’s coding, providing extra energy and weapon power.
- Improved Streamlined Coding - Update for the prior chip.
- Advanced Streamlined Coding - Allows greater energy flow and response time.
- Security booster - Improves Tron’s hacking skills.
- Advanced Security booster - Further improves hacking skill.
- Shadowware - Helps Tron simply bypass security systems and enhances his jumps.
- Maximum - Greatly enhances energy, targeting, jumps, and defense.
- Superior - Enhancements in just about every capacity.
Tron RUN/r Power-Ups
![]() |
In Tron: RUN/r, there are varying power ups you can use with varying functions. That is NOT Tron in the image by the way.
- Bit Repeater - Duplicates each Bit collected.
- Data Wiper - Wipes out all nearby data.
- Time Jammer - Stops the clock temporarily.
- Phase Booster - Speed boost
- Rail Disc - Gives his Identity Discs protruding energy blades.
- Shatter Disc - Gives him Identity Discs that project explosive energy.
Battle Grids Power-Ups
In Battle Grids, Programs can gain limited use Power-Ups.
- Pixel Fire - Creates an explosion surrounding yourself.
- Hyper Disc - Makes Tron throw his Disc faster. Also allows Tron to fire several energy waves like an anime swordsman.
- Recognizer Strike - Tron uses his Disc and calls for a blast from Recognizers above.
Resistances
- Pain Tolerance - Tron is one stubborn son of a glitch. He withstood likely prolonged torture from Dyson (while heavily wounded) without so much as a scream, defiantly near silent. He is also able to fight and overpower Programs even after the permanent injuries he sustained from CLU and Dyson.
- Data Manipulation/Mind Manipulation/Corruption - Quickly breaks free of CLU’s repurposing (Shown above). Tron broke free right after seeing Kevin Flynn. Repurposing is when a Program’s mind, memory and functions are reoriented or corrupted, brainwashing them by manipulating their code and data to give them a new identity and protocols, leaving little of their original personality intact. Even fellow Programs like Cutler could not fully break free when reminded of their past. This level of resistance was even planned to be a critical plot point in cancelled Tron Uprising continuations, with Tron’s ability to to defy programming forced onto him or others being the key to reverse engineer the individuality shown in the ISO’s and create his own programs, enough for Quorra to remark they can kiss the grid goodbye.
- As a Program, he is likely immune to traditional human ailments.
Bob
Sprite Physiology
![]() |
Sprites are humanoid beings that inhabit the Net, being one of many Format types within Cyber Space. They run on energy just like how humans rely on food, even needing sleep and using the toilet. Surprisingly, Sprites can age, as shown with Enzo, so we can assume they have similar lifespans to human beings. The episode “The Great Brain Robbery” also shows that Sprites have organs, also shown in the picture above.
As a Guardian, Bob’s coding is the most complex out of the average Sprite, allowing them to withstand degradation and immunity to certain Bugs and Viruses, although it seems Super Viruses like Daemon can infect Guardians. Even absorbing a little Guardian Code can protect you to an extent from the Web’s environment. Of course, Bob has showcased some superhuman capabilities, such as high jumps, his usage of Zip Boards, and withstanding punishment from beings stronger than he is.
The pure Guardian Code is also capable of even curing the most powerful Super Viruses, although it requires some outside help to activate.
Enhanced Senses
Other than his great reflexes, Bob has also sensed the arrival of the Code Master named Lens. No one else in the scene even sensed his arrival.
Rebooting
![]() |
Both Sprites and Binomes (or anyone with an Icon) can Reboot. Within Game Cubes, Rebooting gives Bob skills, weapons, vehicles, and abilities from the Game itself, although occasionally what he gains isn’t the most useful. Bob has gained many abilities and weapons throughout the Games, but he can’t use them outside of a Game Cube, as his Rebooting abilities vanish with the Game.
Depending on what he turns into in a Game, his physical capabilities can even be enhanced. He has been a Thief, a Knight, a Cowboy, a Merman thing, Mad Max, a Spaceship Pilot, and many more! When in a new game he has not experienced, Bob can easily get necessary info through Glitch. For the sake of brevity, we won’t list all the forms he had taken when Rebooted, as all those forms are not really something he has access to normally.
Rebooting is also used to change clothing when not in a Game Cube.
Rizz (Charisma)
Yes you read that right. Bob is quite the charming guy. Other than being able to get like three people to crush on him, Bob overall is quite the people person and has a bit of a way with words, especially with the dangerously unpredictable Hexadecimal.
He also notably was able to take advantage of Megabyte’s greed and Lens’s curiosity in a greater power, nearly tricking him into getting nullified by purposefully losing a Game after leading him into a Cube. Overall, his words can get him out of what seems to be a hopeless situation.
The Code
![]() |
During the events of Code of Honor, Bob and all the Guardians lose the ability to use their Keytools due to the Gnosis, the new threat created by the Codemasters. To remedy this, Bob learned “the Code” from the Codemaster Lens, which allows him to use the abilities of a Codemaster, signified by his right arm glowing purple. He is shown to be able to shoot energy from his hands, block incoming attacks with an invisible barrier, and possibly has mind reading as shown when he was able to assess that the Gnosis was only running his program. He can even fly. Lens and Bob himself notes that the latter is a fast learner. It seems Codemasters cannot use these abilities inside Game Cubes.
The Code has been destroyed at the end of Code of Honor, but we will be giving Bob this power to make things interesting.
Although Bob has not showcased these himself (and likely never will sadly) Lens has shown the following abilities by channeling the Code through his Gibson Coil Pike:
- Telekinesis - Lens has thrown things enveloped with the energy projected from the Pike with ease.
- Portal Creation - Lens warped around Mainframe by creating traditional looking Portals.
- Energy Projection - Shown above and demonstrated by Lens.
- File Lock - Lens immobilized Phong with a File Lock.
- Energy Constructs - Lens created an energy rope to restrain Bob’s vehicle.
- Ultra-High Density Near-Field Time Lock Mechanism - A powerful energy field Lens used that covered and rendered Glitch completely unusable until he removed it willingly. Only Code Masters can remove it.
- Paradigm Shift - Lens nearly used this until he was convinced to leave Mainframe. It is unclear what exactly this power was going to do as Lens decided to leave Mainframe before he could fully utilize it, but it did seem like he was going to destroy the city of Mainframe with it.
One could argue that when things get desperate enough, Bob could try to use these abilities that he has seen Lens use, combined with his knowledge of Code Masters he got from the Academy.
Resistances
- Petrification - Is immune to Viral Bugs, such as the Medusa Bug which petrifies and later dusts away its victims.
- Mind Manipulation/Corruption - Is resistant to Virus infections, most notably Megabyte who seems to be unable to control Sprites in general, as he can easily infect Binomes with a touch but he has physically interacted with Sprites many times and they remain unaffected. Bob is still vulnerable to much more potent Viruses however, as was the case with Daemon, but it seems like he eventually breaks out of the infection, although it is likely Enzo helped break him out off screen with the cure.
- Degradation - Living on the Web for so long would normally degrade digital beings, but Guardians’ codes can protect them from degradation, with Bob only degrading a little even after living there for a long time.
- Radiation/Limited Heat Resistance - Glitch-Bob can withstand the Core’s radiation for a long period of time. The Core has the energy to power the entire city, without it, Mainframe would tear itself apart. Megabyte too was exposed to the Core’s energy and was able to withstand it for a little while. Hexadecimal later outright absorbs energy from it in a weakened state without issue. During his venture to save Mainframe with the Core, he shrugs off burning his hand.
- As a Sprite, is likely immune to traditional human ailments, although the world of ReBoot likely has digital world equivalents to those.
Forms
Tron
Rinzler
![]() |
When CLU captured and repurposed Tron, he became the silent and deadly enforcer Rinzler. As Rinzler, he was much more ruthless and robotic, only ever speaking twice throughout Legacy, not counting the flashbacks to CLU’s coup. Interestingly, when Tron went into hiding after Cyrus rescued him, he took this orange appearance to hide his identity from Beck until he eventually decided to show his face to him, making this form technically something he always has access to, without the brainwashing of course. Yes he is the Rizzler you saw the gif earlier.
As was mentioned earlier, the Legacy novel shows that Rinzler is capable of sending out a “corrosive” energy.
In the Legacy Novel, his gauntlet can call upon a Recognizer.
Bob
Interface
When Bob got lost in the Web, he joined the Web Riders for survival, slightly degrading and taking the form of Interface. (the actor was dressed like Glitch-Bob but I assure you he looked like this lol) This form/outfit helps protect against the Web’s environment. He also wore a mask he claimed to have difficulty speaking in which helped him with protection against the Web’s environment.
Glitch-Bob
As a final effort to get home to Mainframe, Bob fused with Glitch to gain the power to stabilize a large Tear leading to Mainframe, becoming Glitch-Bob. The fusion was imperfect however, as Glitch was damaged by Megabyte long before his reunion with the Key Tool which made Bob unable to Reboot, and risking fragmentation the more he used his powers. It is likely that fusing with an undamaged Glitch does not have the same amount of drawbacks.
Glitch-Bob abilities:
- Energy Manipulation/Projection - Like Glitch, Bob in this state can fire energy beams out of his hands, both offensively and to mend/stabilize Tears.
- Barrier Creation - Glitch-Bob can create energy barriers around himself and others.
- Flight - Glitch-Bob can fly at high speed.
- File Lock Bubbles - During an attack on Mainframe by Daemon’s forces, Bob showcased the ability to immobilize foes by enveloping them in large File Lock Bubbles.
- Healing/Purification - Glitch-Bob was able to fix the crack on Hex’s mask and even partially helped with her insanity, and was able to remove enough of Daemon’s infection out of the infected Turbo for him to take control of his mind again.
- Telekinesis - Can lift and drag whatever he envelopes his energy with.
- Possibly Portal Creation - As Glitch can just create a stable portal without needing a Tear in Trias Effect, it is possible Glitch-Bob could do just that taking the short into account.
Post-Glitch Defusion
![]() |
“I’ve been working out!”
After defusing with Glitch, the Keytool proceeded to expose Megabyte’s disguise and even reverse the real Bob’s Interface form back to normal and heal his degradation. He may seem like base form Bob, but he has seemingly gotten stronger alongside Glitch as commented by Megabyte during their big fight, forcing the Virus to retreat.
EARLY BOB
Holy fucking shit.
Support
Tron
Bit
Bit, or Binary Digit, is a little companion that only responds with a “Yes.” or “No.” They act as utilities as well as guiding Programs, accompanying the ones they are assigned to. A Bit accompanied Tron during the events of Tron 2.0: Killer App.
Bob
Phong
The wisest, oldest Sprite and leader of Mainframe City who resides in the Principal Office. While not a direct combative helper, he can communicate with Bob through VidWindows and usually help him with useful advice and info and also provide him with various devices in person if needed.

- Gets grabbed before getting thrown through wooden chairs and through a church organ and getting crushed under its pipes.
- Gets slammed through stone pillars.
- Gets acid spat on his face and was fine afterwards.
- Survives a portal imploding which resulted in him being encased in a black cocoon-thing. (0.0382265741 Tons of TNT, Small Building level)
Scaling

Tron
![]() |
As one of the major characters within the franchise, it is no surprise Tron can be compared to plenty of accomplishments done by other Programs, and possibly some Users. He is often portrayed as one of the top dogs alongside Flynn and CLU, with even his presence being a threat to CLU’s occupation. Overall, Tron has shown time and again that he is above the average Program.
Sark and the Master Control Program
![]() |
The main villains of the original Tron movie and the tyrants who ruled over the ENCOM Mainframe. As Tron has fought and defeated both it should be obvious that he can be compared.
Sark:
- Considered Tron’s equal.
- Catches a Cesta ball described as moving at “bullet speed” with apparent ease.
- Energized by the MCP.
- Takes a Disc to the head without fully Derezzing.
- Is given all of the MCP’s functions and grows into a powerful giant. His resurrection alone took the amount of energy to run half a Domain.
- As a giant, blocks Tron’s Disc.
MCP:
- According to the official TRON site, “reached beyond the mainframe of ENCOM” gaining control of the world’s systems. (37.4 Sextillion C to 81.4 Sextillion C, MFTL+ to infinite) (see before the verdicts)
- Could “run things 900-1200 times better than any human.”
- Intended to hack the Pentagon and the Kremlin simply because he is bored.
- Has “boosted himself to become by several definitions, a User.” (see before the verdicts)
- Shook Sark’s carrier with a shout.
- Throws the original CLU around.
- Senses Tron’s presence.
- His influence greatly altered the state of the Grid
- His derezzing caused computers all around the world tied to the web to crash. (see before the verdicts)
CLU and his forces
![]() |
The main villainous forces of the Legacy era of the Tron franchise and the tyrants who overthrew Flynn. Tron and his allies have fought CLU and his cronies aplenty times, making the scaling obvious, although Tron scaling to CLU himself is a bit complicated, but we will discuss that later.
Black Guards:
- Likely the strongest out of CLU’s cronies.
- Have fought Anon in Evolution.
- Black Guards were a big part in winning the ISO war.
- Black Guards can Derezz Programs by just simply landing on them.
- Black Guards easily defeat Uprising members, later fighting Sam and Quorra.
- A single grenade can cause this explosion.
- Take hits from an enhanced Beck.
- A Black Guard evades Light pellets in pursuit of the Flynn’s Jet while piloting a Jet of his own.
Guards:
- Can shift the ground with their staff.
- One Guard survives an explosion that destroyed CLU’s statue and leaves with one arm missing, with the others being not as close but are still fine and without a scratch. (1.24 tons of tnt, building level)
General Tesler:
- Superior to Black Guards, easily killing some on a couple of occasions.
- Slams Beck through metal walls. (0.022 tons of tnt, small building level.)
- Survives a large Light Boat exploding alongside other Black Guards. (2.14 tons of TNT, large building.) (Although with where he was on the ship currently, it is possible he did not take the full brunt of the blast. Taking that into account, the calc got 0.085 tons, small building level.)
- Gets upgraded just so he could kill Beck.
- Post-upgrade, creates some big craters and shatters a wall in his fight with Beck.
- Can turn his arm into a laser cannon, which can vaporize the wall. (2.852 tons of TNT-173.73 tons of tnt, building level to multi-city block level. It is likely there is a higher end for it too, although likely no one scales to this physically, however.)
- Pulls a Senator Armstrong.
Pavel:
- Regularly fights Beck.
- Can enhance himself with a power upgrade weapon, surpassing Beck with it. Likely comparable to when Beck was enhanced by it too.
- While empowered, does a Disc slam.
- While empowered, can shatter a good chunk of the arena with a single Disc toss.
Paige:
- Regularly fights Beck.
- Takes down a group of Black Guards with ease.
- Fought and defeated enough Gladiators to the point Tesler comments that they are running out of people to send out to defeat her.
- Does this sick maneuver while avoiding a Tank shot.
Dyson:
- Survives a Disc right to the face. He was injured but he later stood up as if nothing happened.
- Likely superior to Black Guards as he commands them as well as being part of CLU's inner circle.
- Survives four of Tron’s Light Grenades exploding.
CLU:
- Throws Kevin Flynn around.
- Tesler kneels before him.
- Derezzes Sam’s Cycle.
- Crashes into a Light Ribbon and takes the ensuing impact.
- Sends Kevin flying with a kick.
- Survives Rinzler crashing into his jet. (Mentioned earlier)
- Tanks hits from Sam before throwing him.
Other:
- The Program who made the experimental enhancement when enhanced has ran on walls, and kicked Beck through metal, before pushing a shipping container into the sea. (timestamp 1:56)
- When CLU’s statue was dropped onto Argon City, it caused a large shockwave.
Beck
![]() |
The Renegade and in Tron’s own words, “The Next Tron.” As Tron’s successor, the Security Program should obviously be comparable or even superior to him.
- Fights CLU’s forces on the regular without needing to even derezz most of them, including: Black Guards, Guards, and Sentries.
- Blows up CLU’s statue with a bomb. (mentioned in CLU section)
- Survives crashing onto what’s essentially ice hard enough to crack it. The ice later collapses to a great extent.
- Survives crashing into a Light Ribbon.
- Fought Pavel, Paige, and Tesler.
- Survives blows from Tesler every time they fight.
- Derezzes a huge chunk of the ground (timestamp 1:53)
- When enhanced by the weapon, creates a shockwave, absolutely schools a group of Black Guards, and seemingly perceived things to be slower.
- Catches a Cesta ball without looking.
- Dodges/Avoids Tesler’s laser cannon multiple times.
- Pulls a Raiden.
- Even after getting zapped a little, breaks his metal shackles and still has the energy to fight Cyrus.
- Alongside Tron, survives a Recognizer crash.
Sam and Kevin Flynn (see before the verdict)
![]() |
The creator of the Grid and his son, acting as pretty much the main heroes of the franchise aside from Tron himself. Rinzler even defeated Sam. Whether or not Tron scales to Kevin Flynn to an extent, check before the verdicts.
Sam:
- Breaks glass with his Disc.
- Drops from a pretty high ledge without injury.
- Dodges a Light Cycle.
- Jumps from a high floor to a lower one.
- Is sent rolling after his Cycle is derezzed.
- Withstands the beam of the exit Portal, which was powerful enough to damage Light Jets and make the island it is on unstable.
Kevin:
- In the comic strip, takes a direct blast from a Tank alongside Ram that derezzed their Cycles.
- Created the Grid and CLU. (see before the verdicts)
- The Grid was so advanced, it began to create its own lifeforms in the form of the ISOs.
- Rebuilt a Recognizer.
- His reintegration with CLU causes a huge explosion.
- In the Legacy novel, the same explosion destroys the Grid completely. (Universe level to High Universe level) (see before the verdicts)
Jet Bradley and his digital copies (see before the verdicts)
![]() |
The son of Alan Bradley and main hero of Tron 2.0 and its sequel comic, Tron: The Ghost in the Machine. Wellll his digital copies are the focus in the comic at least… Whether or not Tron is comparable we will discuss later.
Jet himself:
- Can take multiple hits from/avoid Discs and other weapons.
- Defeated/fought ICP’s, infected Programs, DataWraiths, Seekers and Thorne.
- Could take blasts from Tanks.
Jet.EXE/Jet’s copies:
- Jet blocks and deflects a huge beam from a Recognizer.
- The ensuing battle between the forces of Green Jet and Yellow Jet completely destroys Green Jet’s world.
- Yellow Jet’s merge with Green Jet caused a big bang.
- The fully complete Jet.EXE recreates the digital world.
Virus Villains
![]() |
In various TRON games, Viruses are often the most prevalent threats that Tron and other heroes face, and they are pretty powerful in their own right.
Abraxas:
- Battles Anon multiple times.
- After being upgraded by CLU, Jalen (before becoming Abraxas) felt like he could take on Tron.
- Derezzes Sentries with simple swipes of his arms.
- Holds up and throws away a Program with one arm.
- Survives the destruction of Arjia city, although he was a bit farther from the epicenter than Anon.
J.D. Thorne:
- Considered to be on the level of a User.
- Battles and nearly kills Jet Bradley
Misc. Programs and others
![]() |
There have been other Programs who have pulled impressive feats.
Anon:
- Slams his Disc down creating a shockwave much like Tron did in 2.0 Killer App, knocking Abraxas back.
- Defeated Abraxas, the Programs he has infected, and many of CLU’s cronies.
- Can take multiple hits from Discs and other weapons.
- Can take shockwave slams from enemy Programs.
- His slam attack can break shields which block Discs normally.
- His Disc can emit an explosive wave.

Cyrus:
- Takes some electric bolts without flinching.
- Alongside Beck, uses himself and the latter to power a device.
- Tanked a massive explosion of the same device that destroyed his large prison. The device was initially meant to destroy a significant portion of the Grid and cause the very system to crumble. (Ranges from 187.32 Tons of TNT, Multi-City Block level to 1.23 Megatons of TNT, Small City level) (see before the verdicts)

Other:
- Just about every Program has some skill with Discs, Light Cycles, Speed Boats, etc.
- Recognizers could shake the Grid. (see before the verdicts)
- Solar Sailers move at light speed, with Recognizers being able to catch up with them.
- Able’s Light Grenade detonates with a large boom. (2.582 Tons of TNT, Large Building Level)
Bob
![]() |
Bob is the main hero of ReBoot alongside Enzo, so it is no surprise he could compare to the many other characters throughout the show. How high on the power hierarchy Bob exactly is is a bit weird, but we will discuss that later. Overall, the Guardian has proven that he can face any threat to protect Mainframe.
Megabyte and his forces
![]() |
Megabyte and the territory he has infected acts as one of the main threats throughout all of ReBoot. Bob and friends have clashed with them many times. While Bob was initially presented as inferior physically to Megabyte, he later matches muscles with him even when the Virus was upgraded.
Bob and Mouse also kinda treat Hack and Slash like jokes despite their impressive physicality.
Glitch and other weapons in Bob’s repertoire are also capable of harming Megabyte. Enzo also has a climactic brawl with him in the third season. In Guardian Code, the New Guardians are also able to face the upgraded Megabyte in battle.
Hack and Slash:
- The two lift a chunk of a bridge before throwing it downward hard.
- Pushes apart the giant metal claw that was crushing them.
- Shrug off bumping into and breaking a bridge’s metal bars without budging.
- Together, knocks Gigabyte back with a punch.
- An enraged Slash punches Gigabyte hard enough to send him flying high and far all the way back to the city.

- Shrugs off his spaceship exploding. (Possibly 0.9938 tons of TNT to 2.1 Tons, Building to large building level)
- His claws can easily cut off metal.
- Survives getting thrown far by Hex.
- Watched fuckin Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad

- Attempted to self-destruct, said explosion was going to level Mainframe.
- Pushes down a large tree and later pushes it away.
- Blocks incoming fire from the robo t-rex gatling gun thing.
- Shatters a wall with a punch.
Guardian Code!Megabyte:
- Megabyte returns in an upgraded form before immediately shooting lightning at Frisket. (timestamp 3:50)

- Destroys a stone wall with an energy ball. (timestamp 17:50)
- Portrayed as superior to Hexadecimal- what the fuck.
- The weapons of Megabyte’s Sentinels destroy a Transaction Relay. (timestamp 2:15)
Hexadecimal (see before the verdict)
![]() |
The other half of Gigabyte and Megabyte’s sister. A highly powerful Virus who acts as quite the Wild Card throughout the story. Whether or not Bob could be comparable to Hex will be discussed later.
- Collects the energy of the explosion that damaged Lost Angles into an orb tossing it towards Giedi Prime’s Mirror Weapon, if you don’t stop it in the game the weapon fires, powered by the Orb and destroying the Core of Mainframe, destroying the city. (Possibly 1,711,133.69 Megatons of TNT, to 8,651.97 Gigatons of TNT, Small Country to Country Level)
- While enraged, shakes the ground and somehow causes thunderous noises before obliterating the ground.
- Easily blocks an onslaught of combative armaments.
- Causes massive explosions as she decimates Megabyte’s forces.
- Survives her lair exploding.
- Throws Megabyte pretty far.
- As White Queen, absorbs energy from the Core to return to her original self to battle Daemon.

- To cure the Net, Hex defragments with the cure and spreads through the entire Net in a matter of moments. (see before the verdict)
Gigabyte (see before the verdict)
![]() |
The original form of Megabyte and Hexadecimal that split into the two Viruses. He is much deadlier than both combined, although peculiarly he does not use Hex’s powers for the most part.
- As the original form of the Virus siblings, is much more powerful than both.
- His split caused an explosion that destroyed the Twin City of Mainframe. The ensuing explosion left only the now ravaged Sector Lost Angles.
- Kinda quoted Oppenheimer twice.
The User
![]() |
The human outside of Cyberspace who inadvertently threatens Mainframe constantly through his games. His game avatars have encountered Bob and pals many times.
- Prisoner User avoids some gunfire. (While these bullets are not deadly, they are still treated like bullets. They are even fatal in Guardian Code, although they have been changed to energy weapons there for some reason)
- Prisoner User slams into a metal door comically.
- Falls down flights of stairs.
- Cowboy User scuffles physically with Lens.
- Robo T-Rex User easily knocks down trees.
- Submarine User takes lightning bolts without budging.

Dot Matrix:
- (Rebooted) Survives her spaceship exploding, with the explosion being similar to Megabyte’s.
- (Rebooted) Alongside Enzo, survives their vehicle exploding and flying far away.
- A Tear explodes in her face and she shrugs it off. Enzo and Cecil took it as well. (0.09777918523 Tons of TNT, Small Building level)
- Easily carries around a giant cannon.
Frisket:
- Consistently grabs large vehicles and immobilizes them with ease with his mouth.
- Withstands getting zapped a bunch.
- Beats the crap out of Hack and Slash in about a second.
- Grabs a cannonball with his mouth.
AndrAIa:
Mouse:
Phong:
- Withstands torture from Megabyte for a long time as just a head throughout the latter portion of season 3.

Guardian Code heroes and villains
![]() |
Bob has met the main heroes of ReBoot’s modern reboot (lol) Guardian Code, and as fellow Guardians, Bob should be comparable to their feats as well as the accomplishments of the new threats.
New Gen Guardians:
- Fought/defeated the upgraded Megabyte, his infected forces, The Sourcerer’s Dark Code creatures and Hexadecimal.
- D-Frag makes an energy shockwave. (timestamp 15:09)

- Parkours on falling logs and jumps back on a moving train.
Robert Cursor and the Hero Selective:
Weaknesses
Tron
(The movie wasn’t bad btw)
Tron isn’t a perfect warrior by any means. He has been bested a few times in combat before, most notably by CLU, who was able to overpower him, although one could argue Tron was distracted. Some of his vehicles are also big targets, such as the Tank (which is also kinda slow) or the Recognizer, and a good enough blow could derezz his vehicles, which happen to take up a large portion of his equipment. A huge chunk of his power-ups are also limited in use, meaning if he runs out of them, he would be mostly back to just using his Discs. Tron does not have a lot of ranged options without vehicles, and some of the ones he does have are also limited in use.
During the events of Uprising, Tron is heavily scarred and injured to the point it is almost impossible for him to heal normally, and pushing himself too much in this state could risk derezzing him, although he has been healed. His emotions have also gotten the better of him, such as when he tried seeking revenge against Dyson.
Being completely separated from his Disc for a long enough time can erase his memories and render him completely helpless. His Disc could be stolen and used against him as well, although he is used to fighting without it.
Although this is likely not the case anymore, he has shown to be a bit cocky, mainly the time when he claimed he’s better than Sark, although this claim is not unfounded.
Bob
(this one however is kinda bad lol)
As was mentioned earlier, Bob is not the most experienced Guardian, arriving in Mainframe when he was just cadet level. He is also mostly reliant on Glitch in fights, and has not really shown any hand to hand skills. His lack of CQC experience is most exemplified when he always kept his distance from Megabyte in their fights in earlier season, although Bob later is not afraid of getting up close and personal, but he was still reliant on Glitch. He was even disarmed by a basic enemy once lmao. Glitch is limited by its battery, making it useless once it runs out of juice. His gun’s power-ups are also limited in ammo.
As was also mentioned, fusing with a damaged Glitch can threaten his own life if he uses his powers more, and due to his loyalty to his code, he would continue using it regardless. Glitch is also susceptible to being stolen too although Bob can easily retrieve it.
His compassion could also hold him back, as when the infected Guardians attacked Mainframe, he tried to take the situation non-lethally which made things much harder for him.
Bob was initially more arrogant and impulsive during the early portions of ReBoot, even panicking when there seems to be no immediate solution at times, but after being banished into the Web, he has grown to be more cautious and a bit wiser.
Sprites are also highly vulnerable to magnets, and will lose a lot of their energy on contact.
Before the Verdict
Now things get pretty wacky to say the least…
Why are these even included???
![]() |
You are probably wondering why this blog is including media such as the non-canonical TRON 2.0 continuity and ReBoot: the Guardian Code, which obviously contradict canon to an extent, but as a fan of both franchises, I feel it would be fun to give other continuities a look, even if some are less enjoyable than others, so yes, we are including these media, but it is okay if you disagree with their inclusion.
Big Boom Tron feats
There are quite a few feats in the TRON franchise that involve big kabooms, so let’s talk about them!
Part 1, Anon and Abraxas surviving Arjia’s destruction
A pretty notable feat from the Tron Evolution game, Anon and Abraxas were caught up in a massive explosion ordered by CLU, with a Recognizer firing a large blast that exploded the entire city. Anon and Abraxas both survive albeit with some damage. We believe the feat to be fine, as Anon has been shown to be under the very epicenter of the blast, as well as another case we’ll discuss later. Now while Abraxas wasn’t at the epicenter, he took the blast as well after being injured in his fight with Anon.
What could cause some contention is the following scene, where Anon wakes up by Kevin Flynn’s side, who took him away from Arjia. This could imply Anon was swiped by Flynn before getting hit, right? Well, in the same scene, Anon seems to be hurt and seemed to have passed out prior to meeting Flynn, implying he was indeed hit after all, and Flynn likely could’ve taken him after the blast or at least after the initial explosion. He even remarks that he was worried he lost Anon for a moment, adding credibility to the idea that he took the brunt of the attack.
Overall, Programs can survive some pretty big booms sometimes.
Part 2, Cyrus’ prison bomb
Another notable feat comes from Tron Uprising, where Cyrus, the former apprentice of Tron, survives an explosion that completely levels his prison and a portion of land outside, crawling out at the end of the episode with no visible damage.
This explosion can reach around multi city block level to small city level, which is pretty impressive. I’d say this feat would be fine to use considering how blatant it is and how other significant Programs like Anon also survive a massive explosion without dying.
While the device was initially meant to destroy enough of the Grid to make it crumble, the actual explosion itself was not super big so no dice if you think it could reach universe levels of destruction. It also can’t be really an outlier considering they very blatantly show Cyrus crawling out of the aftermath like a monstrous entity.
All in all, not much to say as both feats are kinda blatant with their presentation.
Is it consistent?
One could argue that these are outlandish feats for characters in Tron to be expected to survive, but as it’s become clear by now programs are no stranger to reach these levels of power; instances like Sam (who despite being a user operates closer to a lesser program and has been easily overpowered by other user level characters) and Quorra surviving the raw power of the grid's exit portal despite it actively destroying the island they stand on as well as nearby vehicles shows that such levels of power aren't unattainable even by lower tiers of the verse. Even weapons that can be carried by most programs are capable of dishing out lethal damage to powerful vehicles like recognizers, who have previously been noted to perform extreme feats, like being capable of shaking the grid, this also paves an explanation for how Anon, despite his impressive explosion surviving feat, died to one.
Universe level Tron???
![]() |
If you’ve been in certain circles as of recent, you have probably heard of universe level Tron somewhere, and you have either gone “wow ok” or thought it sounds bonkers and fucking stupid that this verse could get that high after seeing a list of feats that don’t even reach that level ‘til you saw said uni feats. Let’s talk about it!
The feat as we had mentioned is him throwing his Disc at the MCP, derezzing him and as a result completely crashing every computer tied to the Web. This is a result of the MCP absorbing Dumont and the other programs allowing him to further his plans to conquer the world and successfully interconnecting with all systems, only for Tron to do him in anyway despite this empowered state. If that’s not good enough for direct scaling, in retellings of the story such as the Story Book adaptation, Tron is able to defeat Sark after being granted all of the MCP’s functions, which visibly increases his strength to the point of increasing his size in conjunction (and we know that this power boost is tied to the MCP’s interconnection of the grid since his resurrection alone needed the energy to run half a domain, which seems to be a section of the Grid, and by this point the MCP’s influence greatly altered the state of the grid); even before this point, Sark has been constantly getting energized by the MCP and Tron is able to keep up regardless.
For more direct confirmation regarding the implications of the MCP possibly shutting down these universal-like constructs, In the franchise itself, resetting/turning off a computer has been essentially compared to destroying an entire universe. But is the digital world in Tron actually that big?
The Tron novels reaffirm that the ENCOM Grid is infinite in size, encompassed by stars, nebulae, comets, and moons. Furthermore, the Ghost in the Machine comics similarly show stars and planets across the digital world, implying a vastness similar to our own universe, with even Jet.EXE destroying and recreating it in the same comic.
This is further supported by Kevin’s Grid, which serves to be an expansion of what the ENCOM’s grid was, with the original grid being stated to be a virtual universe in the official Tron website and it is later reiterated that Kevin’s grid is not only technically superior but also “digitally boundless”. This sentiment is shared by Tron himself who remarks that Flynn’s Grid has “infinite possibilities”, and we even get to see in Tron Evolution that the grid encompasses many stars.
Additionally an anniversary poster referred to the Grid as a “whole other universe.” Although I will note no one has found the source of this poster somehow, so take it with a grain of salt.
The MCP as was mentioned earlier has been described to be on the level of a User, and the most significant User in the series, Kevin Flynn, had the power to not only create his own Grid, but destroy it in its entirety, with the Tron Legacy novel reaffirming that Kevin’s sacrifice caused the digital universe to explode.
With all that said, does it apply to attack potency due or not due to Alan’s statement to “...erase the MCP..”?
We believe it applies to AP. For one, throughout the Tron franchise, Discs have been portrayed as hitting like sharp objects rather than erasing whoever it hits. Dyson got hit point blank by a Disc, and it bounces off his face although it scarred him, and Tron himself has been stabbed by CLU’s Disc twice, and he lived. Video game enemies and characters have also been portrayed as taking multiple hits from Discs before derezzing. Suffice to say, Discs hit as hard as they are thrown.
Erasure may refer to deletion or Deresolution, which is a form of death in the universe. Giant Sark even blocks Tron’s Disc when it was thrown in the film.
Secondly, it is also notable that Disc upgrades apply to the Program’s physiology as well as a result of how linked programs and Discs are; various examples of this include when one of CLU’s henchmen created an upgrade that must be inserted into an Identity Disc, and with it boosted the physical functions of whichever program took possession of it, as seen with Pavel and Beck, so Alan’s upgrade likely isn’t something that only applies to his Disc given how crucial Discs are to their physiology. Another example is Abraxas, whose Disc was upgraded, and said upgrades applied to his physicality to the point he gained the confidence to take on Tron.
All in all, the grids are consistently stated to be universal, but that is far from the cap as far as this tier of power goes since in that same vein, they are also stated to be infinite several times. That’s not the end of things however, as the MCP’s death causing EVERY computer worldwide crashing, it suggests even higher universal levels of power via the MCP’s interconnectedness over many systems all over the planet. This is because as mentioned earlier, Ghost in the Machine suggests that every computer is its own universe, but we wouldn't blame you if you found this applicability skeptical since its from a different continuity to the one we are more acquainted with; however, this idea has actually passed over to the current canon, as in Tron Identity they present the “Many Grid Theory”, a theory that proposes the idea that every user has a computer, and with it a grid in itself, something of which records clarify to be a proven thing. That all being said, as of 1982 when the MCP pulled off its feat, there were a recorded 2.8 million computers sold worldwide, the closest metric that we can find regarding how many computers existed this year. In short? That’s a lot of universes that the MCP took control of and crashed.
The specifics of these universes however will be elaborated on at a later section regarding its applicability to speed.
TLDR; Yeah I’d say you could argue universe level and higher Tron via defeating the MCP.
Jet.EXE Shenanigans
![]() |
In the Tron comic Ghost in the Machine, the plot follows the protagonist of Tron 2.0 Jet Bradley, who eventually discovers he is not in fact Jet but a digital copy of the User, a digital footprint left behind by the User in the Grid after he left it. The server created Jet.EXE once it found out Jet was no longer present, but the copy was corrupted and split into three beings. When all three finally fused into one, it caused a big bang, which led to Jet.EXE having a conversation with the real Jet, who states that he, Alan, Flynn and Lora are waiting in the real world, but if he enters the real world, the system would crash. Jet.EXE decides to stay, then recreating the digital world. Quite the trip, eh? Yeah. So does Tron scale to allat?
Tron himself does not really make a proper appearance in the Ghost in the Machine comic, but he is in the Tron 2.0 continuity as a protagonist of the Killer App game. The MCP itself does make a return and briefly encounters Blue Jet, although it is seemingly implied to be a false vision. Despite that, however, no one has really battled the fully completed Jet.EXE, as he never really fights anyone again, meaning there isn’t really a way to directly compare him to anyone.
Fortunately, the fact that Jet.EXE so blatantly pulls these feats helps support feats of similar caliber, such as when Tron defeated the MCP or even Flynn’s creation and destruction of the Grid.
Will say, Tron of course is not accidentally obliterating entire universes on screen, but it is funny how strong characters can get regardless of their fight scale.
TLDR; It could be a stretch to directly scale the fully completed Jet.EXE to Tron as there is no proper or direct way to scaling chain them to each other, but Jet.EXE’s feats do help support the more cosmic feats of the franchise.
Kevin Flynn Shenanigans
“You’re a fraud, [Kevin Flynn]!!!! RAAAGGGHHH!!!”
Flynn, CLU, and Tron are the trio who initially watched over the Grid before the ISOs appeared, leading to CLU’s coup and takeover. Flynn himself is the creator and essentially the God of the Grid. So can Tron compare to Flynn or any User tier?
CLU himself has been portrayed as seemingly being able to kill Flynn, with the latter being unconfident in facing him, while Tron has fought CLU, although with a little distraction as he was trying to let Flynn escape, Tron was eventually overpowered. Tron does survive two fatal blows from CLU himself taking the flashbacks in Uprising to account, and CLU was confident that Tron did die when in fact he did survive long enough to get healed later. While this does sound convoluted, there is also the fact the MCP has been stated to be on the level of a User, and Tron was able to defeat him and Sark who has been given his power.
Flynn was even un-confident in facing Rinzler, even before finding out he is the repurposed Tron, opting to run away with Sam and Quorra rather than battling him.
TLDR; Tron could be compared to User levels of power (and possibly speed) through his defeating of the MCP/Giant Sark and scuffling with a Program who manhandled a User.
In conclusion….
MCP’S and TRON’S overall Ludicrous Speed
![]() |
As mentioned many times by now, in the original TRON film the MCP is able to interconnect with every computer system in the world. The way the official Tron website describes this process is that the MCP had to reach out beyond the main frame of ENCOM to gain power and control over the world’s data systems. With this description of his actions in mind, the ensuing calc resulted at minimum 37 Sextillion C to at its highest 81.4 Sextillion C based on the fact that 2.8 million computers existed at the time of the movie’s events and several possible time frames between the absorption of Dumont and the other programs to his demise; and we know he was successful at reaching out to ALL computers based on the fact that by the time he was defeated, all computers crashed as a result of his interconnectedness.
That’s not all! Because as we’ve reiterated before, the ENCOM grid is infinite in size and is stated as such countless times in the novelization. For it to be possible to have been able to escape the confines of his respective grid to begin with, the required speed would HAVE to have been infinite. Very straight forward. But does this boundlessness in distance apply to all other grids worldwide? It’s rather unclear, the ENCOM and Flynn Grid are always portrayed as “special” even by the standards of the Tron world, having limitless possibilities and all. But with the Ghost in the Machine reaffirming that computers are inherently universes of their own, and Tron Identity reintroducing this concept, we can at least conclude these other systems are universal in size, making the previously mentioned calc a nice cherry on top to what is essentially an infinite speed feat.
But is that it for ludicrously high levels of speeds in the verse? One single feat to its name that gets that high? Not quite! There is another feat that can likely get to this high level, that is Kevin’s creation of his grid, with Tron Uprising showing it to happen in a rather brief amount of time. Moreover, Jet performing similar feats shows that this level of speed isn't too far out there for this verse and paves way for a certain level of consistency, and it has narrative backing too since this would only really apply to top tiers and it’s constantly said that their like are so fast that ordinary programs can’t react to them.
Do remember that the concept of Tron revolves around the idea that inside computers there are beings that can perform and run complex digital tasks to what equates in the real world as just a couple moments at a time, and with that, the idea of characters being light timers and some even higher should be a bit more digestible by these standards.
Could Bob Reboot and get Program equipment and abilities?
![]() |
A huge part of ReBoot’s premise is the cast Rebooting and gaining the abilities, appearance and tools needed to beat a game in a Game Cube to beat the User. So could he do the same against Tron, assuming the fight takes place in the Grid?
Under normal circumstances, probably not. Rebooting only really works inside Game Cubes, and the Grid does not share any characteristics with it. But for the sake of the debate as well as to make the fight potential much more fun, we will assume Bob can Reboot and gain the tools and abilities a Program would have. It is okay if you disagree, but I feel this would make the match cooler.
Is it in character for Bob to use a gun?
![]() |
Bob has only really used guns in a few instances, and for the most part goes for less straight forward methods to take down foes, such as when he tricks Hack and Slash into crashing into each other, as well as his genuine compassion, even for Viruses. So is it fine to give him a gun and shoot down his foes like dogs? It is his function to mend and defend after all.
I’d say it’s fine to give him firearms. In certain battles, Bob uses Glitch like a blaster, or straight up turns Glitch into guns, and he has shown to be able to operate weapons overall.
In Code of Honor, he even decided to delete Megabyte once and for all and armed himself to the teeth with armor and artillery, although he couldn’t get to fight Megabyte due to other factors.
Countdown to Chaos also shows he is willing to go a little lethal sometimes. He also technically always has access to firearms, if Countdown to Chaos and Code of Honor are anything to go by. He also wields firearms quite efficiently in certain games, and is more than willing to “kill” the User to protect Mainframe from Nullification.
It’d be a bit limiting to not give Bob all of his tools, so to put him at his absolute best in a combat situation, his firearms are considered in this blog.
Could Bob scale to like, anyone strong really?
Throughout ReBoot, Bob was shown to not be the most physically imposing for the most part. When he fought Megabyte early on, he relied on Glitch or any tool in his disposal. When encountering Hexadecimal, he more often than not uses his words and gets his ass handed to him when he actually tries to face her in combat. When against Lens, he was left helpless when the Code Master rendered Glitch unusable, leading Bob to attempt to nullify him by deliberately losing a Game. And with Daemon, uh, he never faces the Super Virus in battle at all. Overall, most of his problems were not solved through brute force alone.
All this seems to frame Bob as completely fodder physically, right…? Well, not exactly. In ReBoot: Countdown to Chaos, which takes place before season 1, Bob actually battles and defeats both Megabyte and Hexadecimal. Sure, he was armed with a goddamn gun but he was still facing them in battle. Hex had no reason to hold back, as she was straight up aiming to kill him, and does so in a bad ending. He even punched out Megabyte, and later at the end of the show fights him directly and even overwhelms him with Glitch! Megabyte even states “you seem stronger than I remember!” And as Glitch-Bob, we could assume he is significantly stronger.
While most of the cast has been portrayed as mostly helpless against Hex in a direct confrontation, the fact that she’s hurt at all by Bob’s weapons should still be noted. Later on, Hexadecimal even battles Daemon after absorbing energy from the Core with the battle not even getting to conclude. It should also be noted that strangely, Glitch-Bob never fights any of the villains, only fighting Megabyte after splitting with Glitch. For all we know, Glitch-Bob could at least downscale to the likes of Hex to an extent, with how his gun and Glitch was able to hurt her in Countdown to Chaos.
In Code of Honor, Bob even learns how to use the abilities of Codemasters, so it is possible he could scale to Lens himself, as the Codemaster’s best feats have been done through the Code. Even pre-upgrade Megabyte would rather not face Lens in battle.
And deeper into non-canon territory, Hex and Megabyte return as recurring villains in Guardian Code, encountering and battling the New Gen Guardians time and time again. Bob himself also appears briefly in the show and is shown to be on par to an extent with the New Gens.
TLDR: While Bob is not the most powerful character in ReBoot, he can still harm some of the stronger characters like Hex and maybe give them a run for their money, mainly through his arsenal and possibly as Glitch-Bob, meaning Bob could at least have some downscaling.
Wait WHAT DO YOU MEAN GUARDIAN CODE HAS MEGABYTE ABOVE HEX!?
Ok so an addendum, in Guardian Code, Megabyte has been portrayed as physically superior to Hexadecimal, which is an obviously odd (and stupid) decision that is rather inconsistent with how both were portrayed in the original series. Regardless though, this could help put the likes of Bob and the New Gen Guardians somewhere in the same ballpark as both Viruses.
Bob’s Big Boom (and other big boom feats)
Part 1, Turbo’s bomb.
In the ReBoot episode “Trust No One”, Bob was forced to get a highly powerful explosive as far away from Mainframe as possible as it is meant to destroy the city to kill the Web Creature, set off by Turbo. He was successful, although the explosion created a Tear that the Web Creature used to expose the system to the Web. When the bomb itself exploded, the Mainframers initially assumed he was killed by the blast, but he contacts his friends again, and it is shown that he is beside the Tear and is undamaged.
Did he take the blast or did he avoid it? It’s actually pretty unclear. Last we saw Bob before he contacted Mainframe again was when he was shown flying up, and then the explosion was shown. It is hard to tell for sure as the show does not tell us if Bob even takes the blast or not. Despite that, we still could at least assume that he was still in the vicinity of the blast as Bob lost contact temporarily with Phong and Dot, which could affect where he could get in durability. Overall, there is no exact answer to if Bob took the blast or not, but we could at least assume he was in the vicinity considering he was still in the air beside the location of the blast.
Part 1 TLDR, Whether or not Bob took the full brunt of the blast is hard to tell, but it is fair to at least give him some downscaling from it as he was close to such a massive explosion.
Part 2, Hex annihilates Mainframe in a bad ending.
In ReBoot Countdown to Chaos, Hexadecimal gathers the energy that damaged Lost Angles and throws the orb at Giedi Prime. If you don’t stop it in time, the orb hits Megabyte’s tower, powering the weapon on it to destroy the core, the ensuing explosion annihilating Mainframe, with the implication that Hex survives it.
Would it scale to AP? I think so. Hex is the one who creates the orb, and likely survived the ensuing explosion, although we don’t know where she was when it happened. Hex even absorbs power from the Core, with the Core itself being powerful enough to power a city that contains likely thousands of people, as well as return her previously lost power.
A few events involving the Core even endanger Mainframe, such as when the energy of the Core was trapped in a game, and if it escapes outside the game, it’ll doom the city, or the core control chamber being damaged making Mainframe tear itself apart.
Part 2 TLDR: Hex likely has power comparable to the Core itself, which can power a city or destroy cities if destroyed.
Part 3, Gigabyte’s split, destroying the Twin City
The original form of Hex and Megabyte, Gigabyte arrived in Mainframe in a Gateway Command created by Welman Matrix, but the Super Virus overloaded the machine, causing an explosion that leveled the Twin City, and split Gigabyte into Hex and Megabyte.
Would the two Viruses scale to this explosion? It is likely, I’d say! Their original form after all caused the explosion, and they were in the very epicenter of the blast, though I would say Hex would likely scale to it more than Megabyte does, as it seems she has most of the firepower Gigabyte has. There is also Megabyte’s self-destruct, which was going to destroy Mainframe. This also overall kinda makes other Mainframe leveling explosions consistent.
Part 3 TLDR: Hexadecimal and Megabyte could be comparable to the explosion Gigabyte caused, as well as the fact they were in its very epicenter as well as the fact Megabyte could’ve leveled Mainframe with a self-destruct.
Universe level Bob???
![]() |
Tron is not the only one who could have ridiculous AP for no reason. But is Bob’s just as concrete? Let’s talk about it!
How big is the Net anyways? We know that it is a level of Cyber Space that inhabits every computer throughout the entire world, as shown here.
![]() |
Turbo also states the Net has grown exponentially to the point that the Guardians are unable to police it, much like how our universe is apparently expanding indefinitely. Certain scenes also portray the Net and the systems kind of like planet systems, although systems like Mainframe are not planet sized.
![]() |
There is also a singular statement in Guardian Code of how Dark Code Locusts could destroy the “universe” unchecked, which could suggest the Net being universe sized. Although Guardian Code takes place years after the original series, which could also suggest the Net has grown since then towards universe size, it is quite unclear from what I have gathered.
Now with that said, there are a few instances in ReBoot that threaten the entirety of the Net, firstly Daemon’s Cron virus. Daemon spread a second infection throughout the Net, forcing everyone who is infected to countdown to total deletion. Not just the inhabitants, but even the systems. I’d say it is a bit weird considering it took a significant amount of build up for Daemon to even begin the countdown.
Bob himself states that the countdown would end with total deletion/crash, even saying it’s the “end to all things,” destroying everything, even the things that are not infected. While one may assume this could be with hax/erasure rather than destruction, ReBoot uses “techy” lingo and whatnot to refer to things, and with death they use “deletion.” So you could make the case for universal destruction.
Now for Guardian Code’s universal feats. Firstly is the statement that the Dark Code Locusts could destroy the universe if left unchecked in episode 1. This is a clear cut universe level thing, right? Well, not exactly. It is likely the Locusts would destroy everything over time through their sheer numbers and speed in multiplying, and it is very unlikely an individual Locust has the power to crush the universe by itself.
As for the Dark Code Zombies, it is a similar story to the Locusts. It required a massive amount of Zombies and a significant amount of build up. So no dice there either weirdly enough.
There is also something I neglected to mention where the Sourcerer attempted to use a black hole to destroy the entire Net. No one would scale to this black hole as it is made clear the New Gen Guardians were going to die to it, and the Sourcerer was likely killed by it as well.
Now back to Daemon, would Bob himself scale? It is interesting to discuss considering Bob never fought Daemon, likely due to her go to strategy being to infect people and Bob being on death’s door due to the circumstances of his fusion with Glitch. But we could get some downscaling via Hexadecimal, who matched Daemon in combat, with the fight only stopping when Daemon’s countdown ends and she begins her Cron infection.
It is also important to note that the energy Hex expended through her abilities applies to her power level as stated by Phong. This could apply to Daemon as well, which could imply at her absolute peak she can level the Net.
TLDR; Daemon’s feat is likely the least iffy universe level feat; the Guardian Code feats require build up and would happen over time with the actions of many many cronies, and the Daemon feat by itself is also kinda iffy. Whether or not Bob would scale is entirely up to you whether you buy him harming Hex in Countdown to Chaos as a way to scaling-chain to this feat.
Daemon and Hex spreading through the whole Net
Arguably some of ReBoot’s best feats, Daemon and Hexadecimal were able to easily spread throughout the entire damn Net, reaching around 19 Sextillion C, assuming the Net is just as large as the observable universe.
The fact that both Viruses were able to spread their influence so far and so quickly is widely impressive, even if at the cost of their own lives. So could it apply to speed overall?
I would say it’s arguable, as the second infection is shown to be a large wave of energy that expands throughout the Net within less than a minute, and Hex spreads the cure even faster than that. Even earlier, when Daemon had gateways to other systems without anything obstructing her way, she was easily able to spread and quickly infect them.
I’d say it might be weird to scale it to anyone. Daemon’s viral influence has been portrayed as quite unavoidable and no one who was infected even tried to dodge her green mist. But then Hex blatantly matches her later on and mimics what she did to reverse her infection in mere seconds.
It could be arguable to scale Bob to this, as was mentioned earlier a Virus’s power level is expended from using their powers, implying at their absolute peaks, Daemon and Hex could reach the entire Net which is likely similar in size to our own universe.
TLDR: A speed feat of such caliber I would say should be treated as a high end, as while one could consider this an outlier, both feats are such big parts of the plot. Like in the universe level Bob section, it depends on whether or not you buy Bob scaling to Hex does Bob get a scaling-chain to this feat.

Glitch in the Grid | Tron vs Bob
VERDICT

WARNING! INCOMING VERDICT! WARNING! INCOMING VERDICT!
Greetings, Programs! The Verdict Cube has arrived and the User shall provide us with the answers we need! Let us hop in!
REBOOT!
To figure out what advantages either digital defender has over the other, let us take a look at three categories: stats, versatility, and tertiary factors.
Who is stronger and faster than the other? First up, let us take a look at their stats.
STATS
Starting off with their overall strength and power, at their lower ends, both Tron and Bob can actually be compared to building levels of power through CLU henchmen being able to survive large explosions, and Tesler easily being able to shatter metal walls. On Bob’s end Megabyte, Dot, Enzo, and even Binomes can survive being inside vehicular explosions without so much as a scratch, and Lens has shown to be able to annihilate buildings, showing some relativity in their absolute lowest ends.
Getting a little higher, both could be compared to levels of power that can completely annihilate cities, with calculations that could reach country levels of power at most, with Tron being comparable to Anon and Abraxas being caught up in the blast that destroyed Arjia, and Bob potentially being comparable to levels of power that could destroy Mainframe, namely the two Viruses, and with some leeway at least downscale Turbo’s Mainframe leveling bomb.
But, things start veer more into Tron’s favor the higher we go. Bob potentially could compare to universe-ending levels of power with Daemon nearly deleting the entire Net, but even with that much leeway, it pales in comparison to the MCP’s control over more than one system, with his death completely crashing systems ALL AROUND THE WORLD. That is way more than one digital universe and way above what Bob can take and could compare to.
For speed, things also start to veer more into Tron’s favor. Bob and co. has avoided missiles, gunfire, and even electric bolts, and Bob could potentially fire Particle Beams out of Glitch, but Programs such as Beck, Paige, and even nameless Black Guards have consistently avoided light projectiles, and Tron has shown to be superior to them physically. Even a Recognizer could blitz Bob and his vehicles as Recognizers could keep up with Solar Sailers, which are said to move at light speed.
Getting into higher ends, both Bob and Tron could compare to universe spanning feats with enough leeway, with Daemon’s second infection possibly getting around 19 sextillion times lightspeed, but Tron’s is much higher, as the MCP has reached far beyond the ENCOM Mainframe and into just about every computer system, with even at its lowest end getting 37 sextillion times lightspeed, already much higher than Bob’s absolute best comparison.
Making matters worse for Bob, Tron could even widen this gap through upgrade chips, meaning he could even edge out on their lower ends.
With such an overwhelming gap and abilities to enhance his own stats, Tron should take the edge in stats overall.
![]() |
But stats of course are not the main factor as their methods of attack are just as important, so let us take a look at their overall versatility.
VERSATILITY
Both Tron and Bob have a lot up their figurative sleeves, with Tron having plenty of weapons, powerful vehicles, power-ups, and even the ability to deflect incoming projectiles. Tron’s vehicles are overall superior as well, with the speed of the Light Cycle and the surprising firepower packed in a Recognizer, compared to a dinky lil hoverboard, rather simple flying machines, and a car that could break down at any second.
Tron’s extra lives are also explicitly shown to be real, unlike Bob’s. Bob’s arsenal is a bit more ‘gimmicky’ to say the least, with Glitch kind of being like Inspector Gadget to an extent and plenty of its forms being less lethal like a golf club or a lamp post. With all that said, Tron is likely more combat equipped overall with all this heat he is packing. Both even have some healing items on hand via their video games.
But, while Tron may seem to have the superior arsenal on paper, Bob has a more overall flexible toolkit, with Glitch being extremely versatile, forming many tools and even the ability to create hard light constructs, stacked with Rebooting which could give him a good chunk of Program power-ups and weapons. It also doesn’t help that plenty of Tron’s weapons and abilities are pretty limited in use, so Bob could always have methods of attack on hand. Bob could even fuse with Glitch and keep Tron on his toes with his flight, barriers, and energy blasts.
Glitch could even potentially take control of Tron’s vehicles, putting more firepower on his side to potentially remedy the stat gap. And even if Tron could potentially disable Glitch a bit, Bob still could fight back with the Code and has methods of recharging Glitch. Oh and he has guns lol.
That combined with being able to fuse with Glitch, giving him plenty of innate abilities, and multiple methods of flight without vehicles, proficient wielding of the Code, multiple ways to immobilize Tron (pirate sword, file lock through Glitch, Glitch-Bob, and the Code), the ability to disable his tech with the Code, temporary invulnerability, potentially mind-reading (although he hasn’t showcased using this in battle), and even the potential to throw Tron into a portal and call it a day (although I should note he has never done this on screen). He could even potentially return to the beginning of the fight and rethink his strategy with the Revert Command.
Tron does have a method of potentially disrupting tech as well, but his corrosive energy is only something he had when he was repurposed into Rinzler.
While this likely would not matter too much either, Phong’s advice is likely more useful than Bit.
Tron does have overall greater firepower, but that does not erase the fact that Bob has quite a wide toolkit and can account for many situations. All in all, Bob takes the edge in versatility.
But could Bob get past the stat gap and overcome Tron’s skill as a warrior? Let us take a look at their skill, experience, and more in tertiary factors.
TERTIARY FACTORS
Both Tron and Bob are great fighters in their own right, having fought various threats to their homes, whether it be viral or not.
However, Bob is outclassed in terms of hand to hand combat, as he barely shows any skill in that, and Tron is a straight up martial artist who can beat down highly trained foes without even needing to derezz them, as well as having played in the Games and being its’ greatest gladiator, meaning Tron could straight up beat Bob barehanded if it came down to it..
Bob has faced a wider variety of games and could potentially get the CQC skills of the average Program, and he has faced beings who are portrayed as physically superior to him before, but nothing could put him on the same level as Tron in terms of fighting skill and likely over a thousand years worth of experience as of Legacy. Bob is pretty good, but not soloing groups of Black Guards good.
Bob is not completely helpless, however. He is smart enough to keep distance once he realizes how much more skilled Tron is, and would try out his other advantages like his portals and mobility.
However, no matter how outlandish and unorthodox Bob could be, he could likely be overwhelmed by Tron’s adaptability. Tron could potentially adapt to the silly shenanigans Glitch could pull, and he has shown to be able to adapt to a system that has changed for years after his hibernation in Killer App. Even if Bob’s style isn’t something he has not seen before, Tron could still adapt and overcome a new threat.
Tron is also quite tolerant to intense pain to an extent, withstanding plenty of torture from Dyson who has a history of making Programs scream based on what the Sentries had said. While Bob is superior to Phong who also had withstood plenty of torture, Bob himself has not experienced the same amount of pain that Tron went through, so it may be unlikely he has the same amount of pain tolerance. Overall, Bob can adapt to and power through whatever tricks Bob may have, eventually overwhelming him with his strength and skill.
In terms of their mindsets as well, Tron is likely the overall more ruthless combatant, as Bob’s compassion does seem to not allow him to lethally execute even Megabyte, taking a while to even consider needing to delete him, while Tron seemed to have no qualms with derezzing threats such as when he derezzed Sark’s and CLU’s cronies.
And with his overall greater combat skill and adaptability, Tron takes the final edge in tertiary factors.

CONCLUSION
“This is the key to a new order! This code disc means freedom!”
Advantages:
- Likely relative on certain non cosmic strength and dura ends, and could edge out regardless with enhancements/upgrade chips.
- Overall greater and less dubious cosmic ends.
- Likely far faster overall regardless of ends.
- Significantly more skilled, experienced and resilient.
- Absolutely schools Bob in close quarters.
- Adaptive structure can help with anything he has not seen before.
- Likely better combat equipped.
- Bob likely has to kill him 9 times.
- Could potentially disrupt Bob’s tech…

- Likely less reliant on his weapons.
- Likely more ruthless.
- Was in Kingdom Hearts.
Disadvantages:
- Likely not as versatile/flexible toolkit

- …but Bob could still fight back regardless and recharge Glitch, and corrosive energy has only been demonstrated by Rinzler
- …but his vehicles could potentially be controlled by Bob
- His tech could be disabled by the Code
- Could be immobilized by various methods
- Bob could BFR him with a portal
- Less rizz
- Dead franchise

“Back and fully charged! Let’s do it!”
Advantages:
- Likely relative on certain non-cosmic strength, power, and durability ends…
- Overall more flexible/versatile toolkit
- More mobile on foot with the Code and Glitch/Glitch-Bob granting him flight
- Has faced a wider variety of Games.
- Could return to the beginning of the fight with the Revert Command
- Temporary invulnerability helps plenty
- Rebooting could give him a Program’s toolkit…
- Could banish Tron with a portal…
- Has multiple ways to immobilize Tron
- The Code’s potential mind-reading could help clue him in on Tron’s moves…

- More rizz
Disadvantages:
- …but Tron’s upgrade chips could widen the gap anyway
- Inferior and more dubious cosmic ends
- Likely far slower overall regardless of ends, potentially to a comical degree.
- His extra lives are likely not real.
- Significantly less skilled, experienced and resilient, and he’d get dominated in close quarters
- …but he would be overall less skilled with it than Tron
- …but he has never demonstrated this strategy, even if he could think this up eventually
- Likely has to kill Tron 9 times
- …but he has never demonstrated this in the middle of battle.
- Tron as Rinzler could disrupt his tech
- Arguably less combat equipped
- Inferior vehicles
- More reliant on his weapons
- Likely less ruthless
- Was not in Kingdom Hearts
- Dead franchise
In summary, while Bob could put up a fight with his more flexible arsenal and abilities, Tron simply has him fairly outclassed in what matters. Tron should actually take the edge in strength and speed no matter how you slice it, surpassing any relativity in stats through enhancements, superior cosmic level arguments, has explicitly real extra lives, and his greater experience and skill as well as his ability to adapt can ensure nothing could surprise him for long. Even with Bob’s potential to BFR Tron, it is not something he would go for immediately and he has not demonstrated this in canon, even if it’s slightly in character. And even then, it is unlikely for the most part he’d even pull it off considering everything stacked against him.
In the end, it was game over from the start for the Guardian, leaving him in the need for a reboot, and the Security Monitor Program stands victorious. (NUMBER ONE VICTORY ROYALE!)
GAME OVER! TRON WINS!
OTHER MATCHES FOR BOTH SERIES I LIKE
TRON VS NEO (THE MATRIX)
![]() |
Probably the most popular TRON franchise MU and one of my favorites for Neo. Can be hella aesthetically pleasing as well as having an emphasis on high speed martial arts exchanges while Neo tries to deal with Tron’s arsenal and vehicles. While I do concede that Tron probably does not bounce off of Neo’s wackier shit the best, I do think he can still keep up and not get fucked over by his wacky powers with his apparent resistance to his data being messed with. Overall hella sick.
As for who wins, I am likely going to lean Tron, as his high ends are shown to be significantly greater than Neo’s based on the Matrix blogs I have read.
BECK VS BATMAN BEYOND (DC COMICS)
![]() |
A match I thought of one night and got a surprising amount of traction (mainly cuz my matchups never get traction really). Like Neo vs Tron, this one has an emphasis on a hella sick aesthetic combined with great close quarters choreography. Could pull some creative stunts considering their toolkits.
I’d assume Beck wins via scaling to Anon and Cyrus, but who knows, maybe Terry has something up his sleeves like a freakin herald tier gun or some shit lol.
CLU VS AGENT SMITH (THE MATRIX)
![]() |
Yet ANOTHER Tron vs Matrix match. While on the surface this could seem uninteresting for some, and might be NeoTron 2 or something, I’d say it does do its own thing! The Smith army vs CLU’s forces speaks for itself, and I feel this could have some chilling dialogue.
I’d lean CLU considering what we discussed here on this blog, with Tron himself even being part of CLU’s forces.
BOB VS PENN ZERO (DISNEY XD)
![]() |
Y’all remember Penn Zero? Lol. A rather simplistic match compared to the one we just covered on this blog, but I think it has fun vibes. Could pull some fun stuff with Bob creating portals.
Idek if Penn Zero has been researched so ima stay neutral for now.
MEGABYTE VS BEAST MEGATRON (TRANSFORMERS)
![]() |
Probably the most popular ReBoot match and for good reason. Like this one fucks hard. Once again you could get some great dialogue exchanges out of these two, especially if you use Beast Machines Megatron for the fight. I think an awesome way to get Guardian Code Megabyte into the mix is by having Megatron put his consciousness into a Vehicon General body that happens to look like his upgraded form, only for him to break free of Megatron’s control immediately, leading to a fight between GC Megabyte and Optimal Megatron. Really cool match and one of my favorite matchups of all time.
Megatron probably beats his ass.
HEXADECIMAL VS QUEEN (DELTARUNE)

I actually saw this matchup long ago and didn’t think much of it, but after finishing ReBoot I immediately fell in love with it. Not a whole lot to say about it but it does sound hella fun and dialogue potential speaks for itself.
Idk where Deltarune gets in stats so once again staying neutral.

AFTERWORD FROM MEG
Hey guys Meg here.
Many, MANY thanks for reading to the end, as well as a huge genuine thanks to everyone who helped me on this blog which was a solo job for a huge chunk of its production. I can’t thank all the volunteer helpers enough, whether it be for more research stuff (mainly for Tron) or plenty of images plastered throughout. Thank you for helping me on this silly passion project with these niche mfs.
This one took way longer to make than expected due to how much I decided to include, as well as plenty of personal factors, but I hope it was worth it in the end.
I hope this blog didn’t come off as “hoooooly shit tron is cracked bob is fucked!!!” cuz I genuinely did not expect Tron to get this high even with mostly canon material. I love both characters and franchises so I hope my passion emanates through this blog as well as the fight script.
I don’t guarantee uploads on a consistent basis, but I do plan to make quite a few blogs now that I dipped my toes into them, so I hope you look forward to our next one…
